Dylan Harkin (St.Joseph's), Michael McArthur (St.Luke's & St.Matthew's), Josh McLaughlin (St.Ninian's).
The third event took place on Wednesday 15th May on grass at Meggetland, Edinburgh, 11.00-3.00.
After two events indoors the final event in Edinburgh was on the grass pitches at Meggetland. The day was cloudy but dry and the pitches were in good condition. Dundee A played the first game against Perth & Kinross A and a single goal from Ryan Paterson decided it. The second game was a frustrating defeat against Glasgow B who scored early on and seemed to waste time at every opportunity to hold on to the result, but Dundee did not make the most of the opportunities when offered. The third game was another loss, this time to Dumfries & Galloway B who scored three without reply. So thanks to the win over Perth & Kinross A in the opener Dundee A finished third in their group.
Dundee B on the other hand had a successful 1st phase with three wins out of three. Two goals from Grady McGrath gave the Bs a win over Angus B, and in the second game against Edinburgh A it was Grady McGrath who scored the only goal. In the third game Fraser McLeod opened the scoring against Aberdeen A and Matt McKinnon grabbed two goals to make the final score 3-0 for Dundee B who finished top of their section.
In the 2nd phase Dundee A had mixed results in the 3rd group and found scoring difficult. Ryan Paterson scored the only goal against Aberdeen A as Dundee A started well with a 1-0 win, but then the goals dried up. A goalless draw against Dumfries & Galloway A was followed by a 1-0 defeat against East Ayrshire B who topped the group. The lack of goals was significant as Dundee A ended third behind Dumfries & Galloway A also on 4 points with a zero goal difference, D&G having a record of 2-2 while Dundee A only had 1-1.
Dundee B meanwhile started well in the top group and played a close game against Dumfries & Galloway B, with a Matt McKinnon header being the only goal as the Bs won 1-0. They came unstuck against Glasgow A who scored in the opening seconds, soon doubled their advantage and put Dundee B to the sword with a 5-0 result. Glasgow A also beat Dumfries & Galloway B 5-0 in their last game so they were hitting form at the right time, while Dundee B failed to score again in their last game, a narrow 1-0 defeat against East Ayrshire B. So the Bs ended 3rd in the group.
The final points situation was very close. Glasgow and Edinburgh who had trailed after the first two events came good at the end by qualifying for the 1st and 2nd groups, while East Ayrshire and Dundee who had been in the lead before the start of the Meggetland tournament fell away by having teams in the 3rd groups. Glasgow were the overall winners with 63 points, with East Ayrshire 2nd with 62 points, Edinburgh 3rd with 61 points and Dundee 4th with 59 points. Dumfries & Galloway were 5th with 57 points, then there was a gap down to 39 points for Aberdeen in 6th, with Angus 7th on 34 points nearly being caught by Perth & Kinross who had a good day to finish on 33 points.

The second event took place on Thursday 7th March at Toryglen Indoor Arena, Glasgow, 12.00-4.00.
After the mixed results of Day 1 at Ravenscraig both Dundee teams turned in a good overall performance and ended Day 2 on top of the pile. This meant that Dundee closed the gap and go into the third and final day in May only three points behind East Ayrshire, so there is all to play for.
Dundee A opened with a win over Edinburgh A but then faltered against Perth & Kinross B. The last game in the 1st phase against Angus B would decide who finished in 2nd spot and Dundee won 3-0 with Ryan Paterson and George Johnston scoring. Dundee B started with a goalless draw and then had to come from a goal down against Aberdeen A to equalise with a superb lob from Michael McArthur. A good result was needed against Angus A and 5 goals including a Matt McKinnon hat-trick gave Dundee B the three points to finish top.
In the 2nd phase Dundee A came up against three good teams in Group 2 to end the day with 2 wins and 4 defeats but even reaching Group 2 guaranteed a successful day. Dundee B meanwhile continued their unbeaten run into the 2nd phase with two 2-0 wins before going into the final match against East Ayrshire A. East Ayrshire A proved stronger on the day and won 5-2, inflicting the first defeat on Dundee A who ended the day with 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat, but a good points haul combined with that of the A team gave Dundee top spot on the day out of the 8 regions.

U15 NATIONAL TROPHY Final - Dundee 0 Lanarkshire 2
Tues 28 May - Dundee went down in the final of the Lloyds TSB Scotland U15 National Trophy to two second-half goals against Lanarkshire at Spartans FC's Ainslie Park in Edinburgh.
Second-half goals from Jack Rose and Ian Smith were enough to secure the trophy for Lanarkshire, who proved the stumbling block for Dundee for the second year in a row, the quarterfinal in 2012 and now the final in 2013.
Lanarkshire had been runners-up in their Group 4 section with Forth Valley coming out on top. However they came into their own in the knockout stages, beating Edinburgh 4-1 and firing six past North of Scotland in the semifinal.
Dundee had been edged out of Group 2's top spot by North of Scotland, but their victory over the group leaders on the final day in a snow-covered Inverness saw them pip local rivals Angus to the runners-up spot. They then won a dramatic quarterfinal 4-3 against Forth Valley, before seeing off Ayrshire 1-0 in the semifinal.

Lanarkshire were the quicker of the two teams to settle and had the first opening of the match. A cross from the right found Josh Moore inside the area and his volley offered good technique but provided little power to trouble Darren Clarkson in the Dundee goal.
It was not long before Lanarkshire had their first clear sight of goal. Jordan Allan found a pocket of space between the two centre halves, showed an excellent turn of pace, and only a fine stop by the legs of Darren Clarkson denied him the game's opening goal.

Josh Moore and Ian Smith both had efforts as the Lanarkshire pressure was sustained. Josh Moore forced another save from Darren Clarkson, whereas Ian Smith could not find the target. Ian Smith was just off target again moments later.
Dundee had not been without possession, they were just struggling to convert it into any real threat in the final third, forcing six corners throughout the half, but Kenny Giles remained untested in the Lanarkshire goal as the halftime whistle blew.

The second half kicked off and immediately Dundee showed a greater sense of attacking purpose. Greg Warwick appeared to be in the clear within two minutes of the restart, but the onrushing Giles forced him wide and eventually the Dundee striker ran out of space to get his shot away.
At the other end Ian Smith was once again at the centre of things, seeing his goal disallowed for offside. It was the correct decision but another warning to the Dundee rearguard.

Dundee continued to build on their joy in the Lanarkshire final third. A set-piece from the left was met by the head of Greg Warwick. The run was superbly timed but the header was just off target - a let-off for Lanarkshire.
Lanarkshire responded well and with 58 minutes on the clock finally broke the deadlock. A lofted cross from the right could not be gathered by Darren Clarkson and Jack Rose was quickest to react, slotting the ball into an unguarded net before wheeling away to celebrate, 0-1 (58m).
Josh Moore slid a shot just wide of the left-hand post, as Lanarkshire sought a second goal to put the game out of Dundee's reach. Whilst it was 1-0 anything could still happen and Dundee produced their best move of the match to show they were far from down and out. A string of passes resulted in Ryan Lamond laying off Alex Gibb who whistled a shot just wide of the right-hand post.

Five minutes later, Lanarkshire did get their second goal. Ian Smith had the freedom of the Dundee penalty area and picked his spot, half-volleying the ball past the helpless Darren Clarkson to increase the Lanarkshire lead, 0-2 (63m).
An incisive counterattack saw Craig Fox pick out Jordan Allan, who swept a 40 yard cross-field pass in the direction of Ian Smith who lofted the ball over Darren Clarkson, who was happy to see the effort cannon square off the bar and to safety.
The final whistle blew minutes later and Lanarkshire were able to celebrate, making up for their defeat in the 2012 final against Fife by lifting the trophy for the first time since 1998.
So near, so far for Dundee who last lifted the trophy in 1988. The boys met their match in Lanarkshire, but deserve great credit for their performances throughout the season - let us hope next year will be even better.

U15 NATIONAL TROPHY Semifinal - Dundee 1 Ayrshire 0
Thur 19 Apr - Dundee won through to the final of the Lloyds TSB Scotland U15 National Trophy for the first time in many years with a 1-0 win over Ayrshire.
The strong wind had eased a little by the time the teams kicked off at Broughty Athletic's Whitton Park. Ayrshire started strongly and there was a scare early on when keeper Darren Clarkson seemed to pick up an injury but fortunately he was able to recover quickly. Dundee playing up the slope soon worked their way into the game and put pressure on the Ayrshire defence. Following a Dundee attack down the left Ayrshire conceded a free kick some 30 yards out from the goal. Jordan Hornby curled the free kick into the 6 yard box where the keeper punched clear but only as far as Greg Warwick who headed the ball in from 12 yards to put Dundee into the lead, 1-0 (13 min). This was the first time since the opening game of the season against Aberdeenshire in Turriff that Dundee had opened the scoring and the team looked determined to hold on to this lead.
Jordan Hornby unfortunately aggravated an injury and was replaced after 25 minutes by Callum Cook who slotted in well and continued his superb performance from the quarterfinal in Stirling. Dundee enjoyed the majority of the first-half possession but the Ayrshire defence stood firm and there were no further goals.
Halftime : Dundee 1 Ayrshire 0
The second half started evenly but Ayrshire soon started to press hard. It was a long period of sustained pressure which Dundee had to survive as Ayrshire kept the ball in the Dundee half for nearly 15 minutes.

Darren Clarkson was always alert if the ball managed to beat the back four. A fantastic double-save almost proved the end of the Ayrshire pressure - Ayrshire broke through and fired in a shot which looked goalbound but Darren Clarkson pulled off a tremendous save, however the ball broke back to Ayrshire who again looked certain to score but Darren recovered to reach out again and grab the ball. The Ayrshire strikers had their hands on their heads in disbelief, as if to say "It's not going to be our day". Ayrshire tried again with a couple of free kicks, the first was too high and the second was punched away by Darren Clarkson - Dundee had survived the visitors' onslaught and started to get back into the game.
With ten minutes left Nathan Tosh came on for Alex Gibb who had put in a great shift. The fresh legs nearly brought about a goal immediately and the Ayrshire defence had problems dealing with Nathan's pace. Greg Warwick was pulled down short of the box as he raced towards the goal and the crowd shouted in protest, but the referee saw that Dundee still had the ball with Nathan Tosh taking the advantage and bearing down on the keeper, however the keeper and a recovering defender were able to redeem the situation for the visitors. Nathan could have had two or three goals with a little more luck but his pace and physical threat were giving the Ayrshire defence something new to think about. Ayrshire thought they had a good chance but it came to a halt when they noticed the offside flag was up.
With the Dundee defence holding Ayrshire well now it looked like the early goal was going to be decisive. The remaining subs all came on in the later stages for a taste of the action and the final whistle blew to give Dundee a place in the final against Lanarkshire. The last time Dundee won the U15 Trophy was 25 years ago in 1988.

The game had originally been planned for two weeks before but the snowfall had put the game off. Bright sunshine was the order of the day though the air temperature was chilly. Forth Valley had won all three of their group games to top their group and Dundee were still unbeaten with two draws and the epic last-minute win in snowy Inverness, so somebody's undefeated record had to go.

All the substitutes were introduced to the game in an effort to keep up the pace of the game, and everybody showed they were up for the task as they gave plenty of effort in the latter stages, either defending Forth Valley attacks or looking to put the game beyond doubt. Though there were a few nervous moments in the last 20 minutes, Dundee defended well and had chances to add to the lead through Greg Warwick, Sean Gallacher and Nathan Tosh.

HIGH DRAMA IN THE HIGHLANDS
Thur 13 Dec - Dundee went into their last game in Group 2 knowing that a win would put them through to the quarterfinals, any other result would see them knocked out and Angus go through. North of Scotland had won both their matches and were guaranteed to finish first in the group, Dundee's two drawn games meant that, although they were likewise unbeaten, they had it all to do in the last game.

North of Scotland had won both their matches and were guaranteed to finish first in the group, Dundee's two drawn games meant that, although they were likewise unbeaten, they had it all to do in the last game.
What was supposed to have been Dundee's home game was switched because of organisational difficulties and was originally to take place in Dingwall. With the frost a concern it was moved the day before to Millburn Academy's astroturf in Inverness. There were a few snowflakes in the air near Perth and the A9 started to have a wintry look. Inverness was chilly and the 3G pitch a bit frosty but otherwise fine. However as snow started to fall the referee brought the kick-off forward by 15 minutes and the game began at 1.45.
Dundee started well and created a few chances which were off target or dealt with by the keeper. The good start suffered an early setback as Ross Campbell broke the offside trap and raced through the centre to score, Dundee 0 North 1 (5m). The snow was still falling, gently but steadily, and all the players had to get used to the unusual circumstances fairly quickly as they chased the yellow ball around the white pitch.

Both sides were fighting hard for possession and Dundee suffered a few knocks from some rather cynical North challenges. Dundee were still unable to test the keeper properly and were then hit with a sucker punch - Greg Morrison took the ball on the right and the big striker outpaced the defence to rifle the ball past Darren Clarkson, Dundee 0 North 2 (25m). The Dundee heads did not go down and their efforts were rewarded just before the break.
IN THE WINTER WONDERLAND
A Paul Callaghan free kick from 30 yards out was flicked on by Ryan Lamond and in a huge melee with the keeper well off his line the ball broke off a North defender and Jordan Hornby knocked the ball into the empty net from 10 yards out, Dundee 1 North 2 (38m).

PLAYING SWEEPER
During the interval the lines were brushed clear as far as possible, but it was a thankless task as the flakes continued to fall. After a bright opening to the second half Dundee found themselves having to defend as North applied the pressure.
During the interval the lines were brushed clear as far as possible, but it was a thankless task as the flakes continued to fall. After a bright opening to the second half Dundee found themselves having to defend as North applied the pressure.
The defence coped well with the North attacks and there seemed little danger but they were largely penned in their own half for some minutes. Eventually the chance came on the hour, the North keeper rushed into picking up a backpass near the edge of the box and getting a face full of snow for his troubles. The resulting indirect free kick was touched back by Liam Gibb to Sean Gallacher whose right-foot shot found the top corner for the equaliser, Dundee 2 North 2 (60m).
DUNDEE HIT THE EQUALISER
Dundee gained fresh impetus from the goal and started to turn the screw in search of the winner. Opportunities for the North were now very limited as Dundee pegged them back. The North keeper was still proving hard to beat though and time was beginning to run out. Dundee put all the substitutes on so that the fresh legs could replace those who had put in a good shift in difficult conditions.

THE GAME IN THE SNOWGLOBE
With 90 seconds left Dundee won a corner on the left - throwing caution to the wind, even keeper Darren Clarkson came up for this one. Jordan Hornby's corner was floated right into the middle of the goal a few inches from the line where Alex Gibb rose above the keeper to nod the ball in - for a split second there was a fear that the referee might have chalked it off but his arm was pointing to the centre spot, and great celebrations ensued, Dundee 3 North 2 (78m).

THE LATE LATE WINNER SPARKS OFF CELEBRATIONS
There was still time for trepidation however, as North then won a corner on the left and the ball flew dangerously across the goalmouth but it was knocked past the far post and the panic was over. The final whistle soon sounded to Dundee's relief, they had come from 2 down to win the game in the last minutes and earn themselves another away trip in the quarterfinal.
Final score : Dundee 3 North of Scotland 2
The return journey down the snowy A9 went well and players and supporters stopped off in Pitlochry to descend on The Plaice to Be for fish suppers to celebrate a successful day.

Halftime : Angus 0 Dundee 0
Both sides huffed and puffed throughout the second half but again the breakthrough was proving difficult. With a number of substitutes on for both sides in the last quarter the pace did not slacken. With twelve minutes left Angus hit on the break twice and caused problems for the Dundee defence. A minute later Dundee nearly took the lead, Jordan Hornby bursting through the inside left and unleashing a powerful shot from 25 yards which smashed off the bar with the keeper beaten.

DUNDEE DRAW OPENING GAME 2-2
Thur 27 Sept - In the U15 National Trophy Dundee and Aberdeenshire fought out an exciting 2-2 draw at the home of Turriff United.
Aberdeenshire nearly scored from the kick-off and Darren Clarkson had to be alert to prevent the early chance from going in. Dundee immediately hit on the break, Greg Warwick running the length of the park on the left and his cross from the bye-line found Paul Callaghan 6 yards out at the back post who struck home to put Dundee into the lead, 0-1 (1m).
The home side were not disheartened by this and were soon giving Dundee a hard time with a free kick flying just past the post.
A Derryn Kesson shot from a Greg Warwick pass was just wide of the target and shortly after the home side levelled. Dundee lost the ball on the centre circle and Michael Ironside ran with the ball to the edge of the box before unleashing a fierce strike into the far corner, 1-1 (26m).
It was all Aberdeenshire now, a shot into the sidenet, then another Ironside shot forcing a good save from Darren Clarkson, and just before the interval a free kick hit the bar and Dundee managed to clear.

Nathan Tosh was one of the players who came on at halftime and he was presented with an early chance from a wayward clearance by the home keeper but it came too quickly for him. At the other end Michael Ironside was denied from 20 yards by another excellent save from Darren Clarkson who tipped the ball away for a corner.
Thirteen minutes into the second half Aberdeenshire took the lead for the first time when Michael Ironside sidefooted a cross from the left into the bottom corner, 2-1 (53m).
Dundee were putting their game together better than at the end of the first half, but the chances were still being wasted. However with just ten minutes left Alex Gibb hit a tremendous strike from out on the left touchline which soared over the diving keeper into the far corner, 2-2 (70m).
Aberdeenshire almost took all three points near the end but the shot went narrowly wide, to the relief of the visitors' defence. Neither team deserved to lose so a share of the points was a fair result.

In the penalty shoot-out, which may be important at the end of the group, Dundee won 3-1. Paul Callaghan scored the first kick, Aberdeenshire also scored. Derryn Kesson scored Dundee's second and Aberdeenshire hit the corner of post/bar. Jordan Hornby scored the third and Darren Clarkson saved, so it was 3-1 after 3 kicks. Dundee had their fourth kick saved but Darren Clarkson saved again, so the fifth kicks were not needed and Dundee won 3-1.

Thur 31 Jan - The holders of the Senior National Trophy went out to Glasgow in the quarterfinal at Riverside, the visitors gaining revenge for last year's quarterfinal defeat on penalty-kicks.
This time Glasgow scored three without reply to knock Dundee out. After surviving some early Glasgow pressure Dundee settled down and the game was fairly even till midway through the half when Glasgow broke through the defence and went ahead through Kieran Doran, 0-1 (21m).
Dundee struggled to make an impact until near halftime when several chances were created but unfortunately all were passed up. But all the pressure came to nothing and Glasgow countered quickly and Lee Davison finished for 0-2 (45m) just before the whistle.

Indeed but for a little luck the defeat could have been heavier which might have meant trouble.
Dundee needed to avoid a heavy defeat while North had to win to qualify for the quarterfinals. North pressed from the start and did not allow the Dundee defence any time to settle, resulting in several mistakes at the back with the home team looking the more uncomfortable on the surface. Surviving the early pressure it was against the run of play when Dundee took the lead. A corner on the right led to a North foul in the box and Darren Mackie thumped the penalty past the keeper for 1-0 (14m).

The North still had the better chances and just after the half hour broke into the box and the referee adjudged the tackle to be a foul and pointed to the spot and the North scored to equalise, 1-1 (34m).

Halftime : Dundee 1 North of Scotland 1
North continued to show more urgency in the second half, knowing that a draw would not be good enough. Six minutes into the half North went ahead for the first time with a shot from the left edge of the penalty box curling into the top far corner, 1-2 (51m). Four minutes later North were denied what looked a good goal when a corner was met with an overhead kick which struck the back of the net, only for the referee to chalk it off for dangerous play - a very lucky escape for Dundee.

NORTH GO 3-2 UP
Dundee had a good chance when Jordan Garden put Lee Cameron through but he poked the ball wide from 20 yards under pressure to get his shot away with the keeper rushing out. With just over 5 minutes left North had an excellent opportunity to increase their lead as a corner from the right reached the far side of the box and the shot smashed off the bar with the defence beaten.

When the final whistle went, it was handshakes all round, and both sides were keen to sort out the arithmetic with Dundee, North of Scotland and Angus all finishing on 6 points. Thanks to Dundee's early demolition of Aberdeenshire, the goal difference stacked up in Dundee's favour (+7), North finished second (+4) and the unfortunate Angus (+3) ended in 3rd place and out of the competition. Dundee will now have a home quarterfinal in January, but there will need to be an improvement in the performance.

DUNDEE (GREEN) DEFEND AGAINST NORTH (YELLOW) IN THE SENIOR NATIONAL TROPHY
DUNDEE HOLD ON FOR FULL POINTS AT STATION PARK
Wed 21 Nov - In the Senior National Trophy Angus started the game against Dundee with a high tempo which penned the visitors back in their own half for the first 5 minutes. When Dundee did break into the home half the Angus defence dealt comfortably with the threat. With the home side dominating the early exchanges it was little surprise that they took an early lead, a low cross from the left finding Scott Fullerton unmarked by the penalty spot and he drilled the ball into the net, 1-0 (9m).

Another Dundee chance went begging, and Angus broke straight down the park and had the Dundee defence in danger. Angus had a good opportunity to double their lead from a corner on the left 7 minutes from the interval but Aaron Kane headed off the line.
