SECONDARY
U15 NATIONAL TROPHY 2009-10
GAVIN THOMSON (NAVY) SCORED DUNDEE'S ONLY GOAL AGAINST EAST & MIDLOTHIAN U15s IN NOVEMBER 2009
Friday 27th November
Dundee v. East & Midlothian (University Grounds, Riverside, 2.00)
E&M had a few giants in their team which always helps.
With the visitors leading 2-0 Gavin Thomson (Craigie) scored Dundee's only goal.
E&M scored five more to go top. Another red card meant Dundee finished every game with 10 players, only having 10 to start with against Edinburgh.
Dundee did not qualify for the knockout stage.
Final score : Dundee 1 (Gavin Thomson) East & Midlothian 7
Friday 6th November
Edinburgh v. Dundee (Meggetland, 2.30)
Despite picking 20 players for the squad only 10 players made the journey after various call-offs, people being off school, or people not turning up.
It was very disappointing for the 10 who did turn up. There was no goalkeeper, so Graham Scrimgeour (Braeview) took the gloves and did well, making some excellent saves. The boys ran their socks off in the 1st half and only trailed 2-0 at halftime, so you can imagine there would have been a good chance of competing properly if there had been eleven on the park.
As the 2nd half went on, tiredness set in, and Edinburgh were able to put on their subs and were soon out of sight. Dundee's best chances fell to Gavin Thomson (Craigie) in the last ten minutes and with a bit more luck Dundee could have had two or three goals to their credit.
Well done to the 10 who played (7 from Braeview, 2 from Grove, 1 from Craigie), they did their best and can be proud of their efforts.
Final score : Edinburgh 10 Dundee 0
Monday 28th September
Fife v. Dundee (Beath HS, 5.15)
It was a good even contest for 50 minutes, Fife took the lead, Dundee equalised through Steven Clark before halftime, then went 2-1 up with a goal from Gavin Thomson into a strong wind, just after halftime.
Sadly some industrial language from a Dundee player which the referee felt was directed at him meant a red card and it was an uphill struggle for the last 30 minutes with only 10 players. A lot of good performances from the 10, plus the subs.
Final score : Fife 6 Dundee 2 (Steven Clark, Gavin Thomson)
The Dundee squad :
Lawrence Cavin, Paul Scobbie (Baldragon), Brad Barker, Daniel Begg, Jordan Brown, Steven Clark, Reece Cuthbert, Chris Irvine,
Cammy MacDonald, Graham Scrimgeour (Braeview), Gordon McLean, Gavin Thomson (Craigie), Chris Culloch, Kieran Dack, Ryan Mitchell,
Matthew Muir, Lee Munro, Duncan Robertson, Ryan Winter (Grove), Martyn McCabe (Menzieshill)

SENIOR NATIONAL TROPHY 2009-10
DALE HART (GREEN) SCORED THE OPENING GOAL AGAINST FIFE IN SEPTEMBER 2009
Wednesday 25th November
Perth & Kinross v. Dundee (McDiarmid Astroturf, 2.00)
Perth & Kinross opened the scoring after only 2 minutes which meant Dundee needed to score 5 to qualify. After this early setback it took Dundee a good while to get into the game, fighting against the strong wind.
Goals from Sean Kelly and Kieran Small near halftime gave put Dundee into a 2-1 lead at the break.
Kieran Small scored his second goal when he headed in for 3-1 in the 53rd minute and hit a post shortly after.
There were a few close things, but the P&K keeper was in good form. In the 80th minute Scott Gordon hit a screamer into the top corner for 4-1 and Dundee threw everything into it for the last 10 minutes but could not get the vital 5th goal.
A good result but unfortunately it was one goal short of the 4-goal margin required to grab second place, so Fife qualified instead.
Disappointing for the players not to make the quarterfinals, they deserved another game for their attitude and commitment. The late equaliser conceded against Fife in the first game came back to haunt us.
Final score : Perth & Kinross 1 Dundee 4 (Sean Kelly, Kieran Small 2, Scott Gordon)
Final group standings
1. Lothian 9 pts, 2. Fife 4 pts (+2), 3. Dundee 4 pts (+1), 4. Perth & Kinross 0 pts
Lothian and Fife qualified for the knockout stage.
Friday 13th November
Dundee v. Lothian (University Grounds, Riverside, 2.15)
A hard game against a good Lothian side who won all their games to top the group.
Two goals from Sean Kelly and one from Kieran Small gave the team a lift but it was difficult to keep pace with the Lothian strike-force.
At least Dundee kept it tight in the 2nd half to give themselves a chance in the last game against Perth & Kinross. A victory by 4 goals would mean a place in the quarterfinal - P&K have lost both their games by 5 goals so far, so it is not impossible.
Final score : Dundee 3 (Sean Kelly 2, Kieran Small) Lothian 5
Tuesday 29th September
Fife v. Dundee (Dundonald Bluebell JFC, 3.00)
A great display by Dundee who looked like coming away with full points until three minutes from time when Fife grabbed an equaliser.
Fife scored early on before Dundee had settled but Dale Hart equalised in the 10th minute. On the half hour Jamie Wilson put Dundee 2-1 up, Fife hit the bar before halftime and that looked like being it until a late corner was not cleared and Fife equalised.
Disappointing to end up with only a point, but the performance was very encouraging. Let's hope for the same again v. Perth & Kinross and Lothian.
Final score : Fife 2 Dundee 2 (Dale Hart, Jamie Wilson)
The Dundee squad :
Craig Johnston, Sean Kelly, Gregor Marshall, Ross Milne, Andrew Walls (Baldragon), Damien Coogan, Kieran Dillon (Braeview),
Matthew Bain, Steven Khan, Daniel Low, Kieran Small, Jamie Wilson (Craigie), Craig Falconer, Scott Howard, Robbie Whyte (Grove)
Matthew Gallazzi, Scott Gordon (Morgan), Matty Clark, Dale Hart, Glen McArtney, Ross Ritchie (St.John's)
