Tuesday 15th September
Grove and Harris drew 6-6 in the DFCSS U13 League. Tremendous entertainment from start to finish. A good crowd gathered at Dawson Park on a mild afternoon and saw Harris take an early lead, 0-1 (2m) but Grove soon equalised with a header following a corner on the right, 1-1 (8m). Grove then went ahead for the first and only time when a low shot from the edge of the area on the left rolled just inside the near post despite a despairing dive from the Harris keeper, 2-1 (13m).
Harris broke down the left and outpaced the Grove defence to fire in a shot from 15 yards to level the scores, 2-2 (21m), and soon regained the lead with a lob over the keeper, 2-3 (24m). Harris pressed for more and two minutes later got the break of the ball to beat the keeper to extend the lead, 2-4 (26m). Despite shipping three quick goals Grove hit back in the next minute, winning another corner on the right and heading in at the near post, 3-4 (27m). With halftime approaching Harris scored again, a great cross from the right being tapped in at the far post 6 yards out, 3-5 (34m).
After a goalless spell at the start of the second half normal service was resumed when Grove pulled one back with a shot across the keeper from the left sneaking in low at the right post, 4-5 (49m). Four minutes later it was all level again from a break down the left finished with a touch from just outside the box beating the keeper's left hand into the bottom corner, 5-5 (53m). Harris soon regained the advantage with a shot from the right which was deemed to have crossed the line before a Grove defender hooked the ball away at the far post, 5-6 (57m). Grove then won a free kick 25 yards out in the centre and Liam Duell completed his hat-trick by hitting the free kick into the top left corner, 6-6 (65m).
There was still time for more drama as a Grove clearance narrowly went wide of the post, then Grove had a goalbound shot turned away for a corner by a magnificent save from the Harris keeper and as the game entered time added on Grove smashed a shot off the bar, as the crowd gasped. Handshakes all round on the final whistle, roll on more games like this ....... Final score : Grove 6 Harris 6.

With only Grove and Harris taking part it was decided to play 20 minutes each way. Grove scored in the first minute but Harris fought hard all the way and at halftime Grove led 5-2. Both sides played some great football, with tremendous saves and lots of shots onto the bar and post. Thursday 3rd September
St.Paul's kicked off the season with a 6-1 win over Harris in the Arab Trust DFCSS Senior League. St.Paul's took the lead in the 4th minute with a headed goal at the far post and a firm strike from Jamie Herron from the edge of the box into the top corner made it 2-0 (12m). Harris pulled one back with a clever flick from a corner on the left midway through the half but defensive misunderstandings allowed Jamie Herron in for an easy finish to make it 3-1 (32m). With halftime approaching a long St.Paul's clearance was chased dowm the centre by Jamie Herron who head-flicked it on to the edge of the box and finished coolly to notch his hat-trick, 4-1 (37m).
Both sides tried hard in an even second half but it looked like there would be no addition to the scoreline until Jamie Herron outpaced the Harris defence on the right wing and let fly from 20 yards to beat the keeper all ends up for his 4th of the match, 5-1 (72m). In the last minute Jamie Herron was unceremoniously dumped in the box and St.Paul's scored from the spot to make the final score 6-1 (80m).
