Aberdeen v. Dundee (Harlaw Playing Fields, 6.00)
Friday 3rd April 09 - Dundee Primary Select turned in one of their best ever performances in beating Aberdeen 9-1 away to win their fourth game in a row and top the table, guaranteeing a home tie in the Semifinals.
There was little to choose between the teams in the first half. The only goal of the first half came when a free kick from the halfway line was headed by Craig Wighton across to Lee Maloney who hit a fierce volley from 10 yards just inside the post, 0-1 (15). Aberdeen looked good in the first half but the Dundee defence coped well with Jordan Hornby particularly impressive.
Dundee took over in the second half and went on a goal spree. Lee Maloney ran up the left and crossed to Craig Wighton who finished with a low shot inside the far post, 0-2 (33). The game was put beyond doubt when following a throw-in Lee Maloney headed over the keeper from 6 yards, 0-3 (39). Two minutes later Lee Maloney completed his hat-trick with a fantastic left foot strike from outside the box which flew into the top corner and stuck there, 0-4 (41). Lee Maloney was on hand again at the far post to finish off a cross from the right from Craig Wighton, 0-5 (44). A great bit of skill by Matthew Smith put Lee Maloney in for his 5th goal as the mist started to descend, 0-6 (49). Good work by Craig Wighton and Lee Maloney set up Darren Forbes for his second in successive games, 0-7 (52). Then Patrick Martin shot from the edge of the box, the keeper tried to clear but it was adjudged to have crossed the line, 0-8 (56). Aberdeen scored a consolation goal a minute from the end, 1-8 (59). In injury time another Craig Wighton run up the right set up Patrick Martin for his second to complete a memorable day, 1-9 (60+1).

SECONDARY
U15 NATIONAL TROPHY 08-09
Monday 8th December 08
East & Midlothian v. Dundee (Lasswade HS Astroturf, 4.30)
East & Midlothian started strongly and were 1-0 up after a couple of minutes and 2-0 up after 15 minutes.
On the half hour Jack Reilly (Morgan) scored from close range and right after halftime Connor Davidson (Menzieshill) equalised with a fine finish, keeping up his goal-a-game record. A couple of minutes later E&M scored a superb 3rd goal to regain the lead - Justyn Brough (Morgan) made some great saves on the night but could do nothing with that one. E&M scored another couple and the final score was about right - the Dundee boys played well after a slow start, showed a lot of spirit and did not let anybody down.
With all the results in, even a good win against E&M to catch Fife would have been of no use as Fife and Edinburgh drew 1-1, so Edinburgh won the group with Fife second.
Final score : East & Midlothian 5 Dundee 2 (Jack Reilly, Connor Davidson)
The Dundee squad :
Lawrence Cavin, Kieran Foy, Ryan Kyle, Nairn Johnstone, Kieran Strachan (Baldragon), Travis Grimmond (Grove), Connor Davidson (Menzieshill),
Justyn Brough, Matthew Gallazzi, Conor McMahon, Jack Reilly (Morgan), Jordan Colquhoun, Connaire Connelly, Jaye Gunn (St John's)
Saturday 7th November 08
Dundee v. Edinburgh (University Grounds, Riverside, 10.30)
A lethargic 1st half performance - Edinburgh took the lead midway through the half and added a second just before halftime.
Dundee improved in the 2nd half and pulled one back after ten minutes when Connor Davidson (Menzieshill) scored from close range following good work from Connaire Connelly (St.John's) and Jack Reilly (Morgan). Edinburgh hit the woodwork a couple of times near the end and scored their 3rd with almost the last kick of the match.
Final score : Dundee 1 (Connor Davidson) Edinburgh 3
Monday 22nd September 08
Dundee v. Fife (University Grounds, Riverside, 4.45)
Connor Davidson (Menzieshill) scored after only 4 minutes and Dundee could have scored four or five before Fife equalised with their first attack in the 16th minute.
Fife then came into the game and it became end-to-end. Dundee had a goal chalked off for offside just after halftime, then Fife had a spell of pressure in which they went 2-1 up and also had the ball headed off the line twice by Dundee defenders following corner kicks. Dundee weathered the storm and came back strongly in the last ten minutes.
Connor Davidson turned to thump in the equaliser five minutes from time after a good pass from Connaire Connelly (St.John's). A draw was a fair result. The game was played in great spirit (all credit to the lads and other clichés).
Fife won the penalty shoot-out 4-3.
Final score : Dundee 2 (Connor Davidson 2) Fife 2

SENIOR NATIONAL TROPHY 08-09
Tuesday 11th November 08
Lothian v. Dundee (Meggetland, Edinburgh, 6.15)
There were a few call-offs at the last minute and it was a mad scramble to get a keeper to travel. Fortunately Ian Marshall (Braeview) was able to make it and fitted in well with a confident performance. Kevin Smith (Braeview) and David Baruffati (Grove) did well in the centre of defence.
A strong Lothian team had already won the group after winning their other games but Dundee avoided the double figures nightmares of the last two years and were able to compete well. Dundee took the lead in the 35th minute with an excellent goal from Craig Johnston (Baldragon) but Lothian equalised 5 minutes later. 1-1 at halftime. In the first 15 minutes of the second half Lothian scored three times - ironically just when Dundee were playing their best spell of football.
The campaign is unfortunately over for another year with Lothian and Fife now qualifying. Despite the defeat it was a good performance from the boys particularly with a new keeper and central defence. The killer blow was losing heavily in the 2nd game to Perth & Kinross, after a hard-fought draw with Fife. But at least those who travelled to Edinburgh restored some pride with their display against Lothian.
Final score : Lothian 4 Dundee 1 (Craig Johnston)
The Dundee squad :
Craig Johnston, Sean Kelly (Baldragon), Danny Nicholson, Kevin Smith, Lee Tracey (Braeview), David Baruffati, Nathan Doull, Matthew Kirkwood, Michael Malone, Grant Sneddon (Grove), Drew Ross (Menzieshill), Sam Cross, Dale Hart, James Pettigrew, Matthew Reid (St.John's), Robbie Ellis, Martin Flynn (St.Paul's).
Tuesday 30th September 08
Dundee v. Perth & Kinross (University Grounds, Riverside, 4.45)
After the excitement of last week's game v. Fife a lack-lustre performance led to a 4-0 defeat against Perth & Kinross.
P & K played into the strong wind in the 1st half and were 3-0 up at halftime. Dundee played better in the second half but could not beat the P & K keeper.
P & K added a fourth near the end and also hit a post. It's now all down to Lothian away in November.
Final score : Dundee 0 Perth & Kinross 4
Thursday 25th September 08
Dundee v. Fife (University Grounds, Riverside, 5.00)
The Seniors drew 3-3 with Fife in an exciting competitive game.
Dundee started slowly and Fife went 2-0 up in the first quarter of an hour but Dundee fought back to equalise by halftime with two goals from Sean Kelly.
Fife made it 3-2 early in the second half but Sean Kelly grabbed his third on the hour to make the final score 3-3.
Dundee won the penalty shoot-out 3-1 with Nathan Doull saving two while Fife put another penalty past the post.
Drew Ross, Robbie Ellis and Martin Flynn all scored their penalties.
Final score : Dundee 3 (Sean Kelly 3) Fife 3
The Dundee squad :
Craig Johnston, Sean Kelly (Baldragon), Danny Nicolson, Kevin Smith, Lee Tracey (Braeview), David Baruffati, Nathan Doull, Matthew Kirkwood, Michael Malone, Grant Sneddon (Grove), Drew Ross (Menzieshill), Sam Cross, Dale Hart, James Pettigrew, Matthew Reid (St.John's), Robbie Ellis, Martyn Flynn, Andrew Millar (St.Paul's).
