Monifieth beat Grove 3-2 in the DSA Arab Trust Senior Champions League. A good close match in the morning kick-off at Whitton. Into the second half Monifieth doubled their lead with a cracking strike from around 20 yards into the top corner. A good move led to Grove coming back into it, a cross from the left to beyond the far post was turned back into the centre and a shot from 10 yards was placed wide of the keeper for 1-2. Monifieth were awarded a free kick just outside the box and the free kick fooled everybody - the Grove wall expected a high ball so jumped in the air only for the low shot to go beneath the wall and keeper for 1-3. In the first minute of the second half a St.Paul's free kick led to the equaliser and the game continued from one end to the other with both sides trying to find a winner. But there were no more goals so it was on to penalties - Braeview took the first one and the first eight penalties were all successful. The St.Paul's keeper saved the fifth Braeview spot-kick and St.Paul's confidently scored their final kick to win through and spark off the celebrations. Baldragon and Grove drew 2-2 in the DSA U13 League. Grove saw their first-half lead overturned by Baldragon who were 2-1 up at the interval. Forth Valley beat Dundee 4-1 at Broughty Athletic's Whitton Park in the U15 National Trophy. Dundee's chance of reaching the semifinal depended on a win against Forth Valley in the last group game (or a draw followed by a penalty shoot-out win) but Dundee were up against it in the first half as Forth Valley moved into a 2-0 lead. Dundee failed to reach their previous rhythm, not helped by a strong blustery wind and some controversial decisions. Penalty awards and non-awards in particular seemed to lack consistency. Dundee were able to pull a goal back right on halftime when Scott Constable finished a Brayden Bruce free kick at the far post to make it Dundee 1 Forth Valley 2. The second half did not improve really - the wind advantage did not help, the rhythm was still missing and when the visitors were awarded another penalty to go 3-1 up it was time to give all the subs a run. Forth Valley then scored a 4th to earn a trip to Paisley in the semifinal. See photos.
Monday 21st February
St.Pius beat Dens Road 5-0 in the DSA Arab Trust Small Schools League. It was the first game of the season for Dens Road who slowly got it together and made some chances in the second half. The Dens Road keeper had a great game as St.Pius pressed hard. St.Pius also smashed the ball off the bar twice in the first half and scored the goal of the day from the halfway line in the second half - nothing the keeper could do with that one. Apart from their good play St.Pius also supplied the best comment of the day when an enthusiastic dad shouted advice at a corner to his young lad who retorted with "Hud yer wheesht". Chuckles all round. See photos.
Monifieth beat St.Paul's 3-2 in the Arab Trust U16 League. St.Paul's scored first then went 2-0 up after Monifieth missed a penalty. Monifieth pulled back a goal before halftime and drew level in the 2nd half. With a draw looking likely Monifieth scored a late winner. See photos.

St.Andrew's beat St.Fergus 7-2 in the Junior Sports Cup 1st Round and now play home to Glebelands. On a sunny afternoon at a wind-free Baldragon in between the forecast storms St.Andrew's took an early lead and built on it to go 3-0 up before conceding a penalty to give St.Fergus the chance to pull one back to 3-1 at the break. In the second half St.Andrew's continued to find the net, including from the penalty spot, but St.Fergus scored a great goal and smashed the bar, as well as a few chances wide, to make it a highly entertaining game. It looked like ending 6-2 but a St.Fergus defensive slip let in St.Andrew's for the final goal. See photos.

Grove in the Arab Trust U16 League was called off early with the forecast of strong winds at the grass pitch, St.John's beat St.Paul's 3-0 in the DSA U13 League on the astroturf at Lochee Harp. St.Paul's played with the wind in the first half but could not take advantage before St.John's struck twice into the wind. The second half was played mainly in the St.Paul's half but though St.John's crashed one off the bar there was only one more goal to show for it, then St.Paul's finally got out of their half for a couple of late attacks. An entertaining game in the very windy sunshine at Harp. See photos.

A good game though the wind made it difficult for everybody. See photos.

Royal soon scored again to lead 2-1 but the St.John's 11, including two S1s drafted in, equalised with plenty of time left to go for more. But with both defences standing firm no more goals were scored and it came down to penalties. Royal's first kick was parried but the ball continued on a slow bounce into the net. That set the tone for the rest of the penalties - St.John's could not score their first three kicks and Royal, despite having one saved, scored two more, so after only 7 kicks it was all over and Royal progress to the 4th Round.

Craigie beat Monifieth 1-0 in the Arab Trust U15 League. One goal in the first half proved the difference, though Craigie had the ball in the net again late in the game but it was offside. Monifieth attacks were well dealt with by the Craigie keeper and his defence. See photos of 1st half.

St.John's beat Grove 4-0 in the U15 Shield 3rd Round. The first half was very even but St.John's scored just before the break. St.John's scored again but Grove had some good chances to fight back but lacked the finishing touch. St.John's scored for 0-3 near the end to finish the game off and soon added a 4th from the penalty spot. The game was closer than the 4-0 scoreline might suggest but St.John's finished their chances while Grove just fired high or wide. St.John's will find out their 4th Round opponents next week. See photos.
Tuesday 25th January
Dundee beat Aberdeenshire 6-1 in the U15 National Trophy at Inverurie. Dundee needed a win at the Garioch Centre and played very well against Aberdeenshire. Dundee took the lead in the 14th minute when a through ball reached Ben Christie on the edge of the box on the right - his left-foot shot curled past the keeper into the far side of the net. With 24 minutes gone Tiyler Low took the ball 30 yards out in the centre of the park, moved forward a few yards and rifled a right-foot shot past the keeper to put Dundee 2 up. Soon after Aberdeenshire thought they had pulled a goal back but the referee had spotted some infringement. In 36 minutes Brayden Bruce sent Tiyler Low clear and he raced away to shoot home from the edge of the box for his second goal as Dundee now led 0-3. As halftime approached there was just time for Daniel Johnston to take the ball from the centre of the D out left, outpacing two defenders and turn to hit a magnificent left-footer across the keeper into the far side of the net - a superb strike. Halftime Aberdeenshire 0 Dundee 4.
Ten minutes into the second half the impressive Josh Mitchell inside his own half sent Ben Christie through in the centre, and he sidestepped the keeper at the edge of the box to run the ball in from a yard or two out for the fifth goal. In the 74th minute Aberdeenshire broke down the right and shot low and hard from 15 yards to score, 1-5. Three minutes later Aberdeenshire were awarded a penalty for hands in the back but, though the spot-kick hit the net, the referee ordered a retake following encroachment and Rhyddn McGuire saved. Soon after Ben Christie made it 1-6 from close range to complete his hat-trick and wrap up a good win. Dundee now face Forth Valley at home in the last match of the group with all still to play for. St.John's went 2 up after the break and Monifieth missed a good chance before scoring a penalty to trail 2-1. A goal late in the game for St.John's after some good pressure wrapped up the result. The game continued from end to end in the second half with St.Paul's being the nearest to add to the score when they hit the bar and hit the left post from the rebound. A superb 4th from a shot out on the left into the far corner gave Harris a 2-goal cushion and another couple of well taken goals wrapped up the full points. See photos.

Craigowl beat Downfield 5-0 in the Cameron Cup 1st Round and now play home to Glebelands in the semifinal.
Monifieth beat Harris 1-0 in the DSA U14 League. A very close game which looked like ending goalless but the last quarter provided the talking points. First Harris hit a shot from the edge of the box which curled onto the foot of the right post and bounced back out. Then Monifieth looked to have scored but the referee spotted an offside so did not award a goal. Finally with the end of the game in sight Monifieth broke through the middle and fired a shot onto the foot of the left post and it bounced over the line into the net. See photos.

They continued to take the game to Grove and added a fourth ten minutes later. With only seconds left St.Paul's capped a 5-star 2nd-half performance with a 5th goal. See photos.

Grove and St.John's drew 0-0 in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League. Only the second goalless draw this season, the other one being Grove Seniors again in the season opener against Monifieth. The morning snow had disappeared by mid-afternoon but despite the sun it was a chilly windy affair at Whitton with little between the teams. The best chance fell to Grove in the second half but the excellent St.John's keeper turned it away for a corner. See photos.

Tuesday 22nd February
Baldragon and Grove drew 2-2 in the DSA U13 League. Grove saw their first-half lead overturned by Baldragon who were 2-1 up at the interval. Both sides had chances in an even second half and Grove beat the offside trap to level at 2-2. The Baldragon keeper was equal to all other possibilities and a draw was a fair result. See photos.
See photos.
Thursday 17th February
See photos.
Both Secondary games, Harris v. Monifieth U15s and St.John's v. St.Paul's U16s, were called off.
Wednesday 16th February

St.John's and Morgan drew 1-1 in the DSA U14 League. With Storm Dudley beginning about 5 minutes from the end at DISC both teams did well to finish a close game with honours even. Morgan went ahead midway through the first half with a shot from the edge of the box and St.John's equalised with 9 minutes left. A close game and a draw was a fair result. See photos.
Thursday 10th February
While St.John's v. See photos.

After a long goalless period Monifieth swept into a 2-0 lead but then some silly fouls culminated in a free kick to Albyn who crossed to the left and scored the best goal of the day to make it 2-1 before halftime. A couple of goals in the second half put Monifieth in control and the gathering crowd delighted in a popular sub's performance as he went for a 5th but was always thwarted by the away defence. See photos.

In the second half Monifieth broke into the wind to increase their lead to 3-1. St.Paul's then scored from the penalty spot after a jersey-pull but Monifieth broke again for 4-2. A good game though the wind made it difficult for everybody. See photos.

Royal HS beat St.John's 3-0 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the Senior Girls Shield 3rd Round. St.John's were 1-0 up in Edinburgh but Royal were level right after the break.

Thursday 27th January
Craigie beat Monifieth 1-0 in the Arab Trust U15 League. One goal in the first half proved the difference, though Craigie had the ball in the net again late in the game but it was offside. Monifieth attacks were well dealt with by the Craigie keeper and his defence. See photos of 1st half.

Wednesday 26th January
Baldragon beat Queen Anne HS 4-3 in the U14 Shield 3rd Round. Baldragon led 4-1 just before halftime then the Dunfermline team scored but they missed a penalty at 4-2.
See photos.

Mill of Mains regained the lead and Ancrum Road equalised for 2-2 and finished stronger with 3 goals to win a good competitive game at Baldragon. See photos.
St.John’s beat Monifieth 3-1 in the U13 Shield 3rd Round. Monifieth pressed hard in the first half but St.John's became stronger towards halftime and went 1 up with a debatable goal which the Monifieth keeper on the ground dragged back from crossing the line. With no goal-line technology the ref who was 25 yards out and in no position to see it awarded a goal. (The photo evidence from 18 yards out proves nothing.) St.John's went 2 up after the break and Monifieth missed a good chance before scoring a penalty to trail 2-1. A goal late in the game for St.John's after some good pressure wrapped up the result. St.John's go through to the 4th Round and will wait to see who they are drawn against. See photos.

Perth HS took the lead early when Grove were briefly down to 10 players for a nosebleed but soon doubled their advantage following a loose pass. Grove attacks were not getting past the keeper, including smashing one off the post, but with halftime approaching and trailing 3-0 Grove crossed from the right and finished at the far post for 3-1. A goal soon after the break made 3-2 but joy only lasted a minute before PHS were gifted a 4th. Grove beat Braeview 4-0 in the Arab Trust DSA Senior League. Grove got off to the perfect start when a Braeview clearance hit off a defender and bounced in for an own goal. Grove led 3-0 at the break but it could have been 4 but for a superb double-save from a penalty. See photos.

Friday 26th November
Dunfermline HS led St.John's 4-1 at halftime in the U16 Shield 2nd Round. Though there was no snow lying on the pitch, St.John's would have had to face the very strong wind and horizontal snow showers in the second half so the game was conceded. Well done to Dunfermline HS for a strong first-half showing into the wind and snow and were well worth their 4-1 lead. See photos.

Monday 22nd November

Monifieth beat Dunfermline HS 4-1 in the U14 Shield 1st Round and now play Queen Anne HS at home. Goalless at halftime but Monifieth always had the edge. See photos.
St.Paul's beat Harris 2-1 in the Arab Trust DSA Senior League. A very even game at Baldragon where Harris took the lead probably without knowing anything about it - the St.Paul's keeper came out to the edge of his box to clear but the ball cannoned off one of the onrushing players and rebounded into the empty net. St.Paul's equalised right on halftime from the penalty spot after the Harris keeper had brought a St.Paul's attack to an abrupt halt by flooring the striker. In the second half St.Paul's broke through the centre of the defence and powered a shot past the keeper into the net, a superb finish. Harris pressed hard for an equaliser in the last ten minutes but St.Paul's defended well. See photos.

The score then crept up to 6-0 in the second half and added a couple more in the last few minutes to round off a big win. See photos.

Wednesday 17th November
St.Paul's beat Craigie 3-1 in the DSA U13 League. St.Paul's scored first on the astroturf at Craigie when a long-range shot was adjudged to have crossed the line despite the keeper's best efforts. Craigie's equaliser was a similar long-range effort which caught the keeper out. St.Paul's scored with a superb shot from at least 25 yards into the far corner to lead 2-1 at halftime. The game continued from end to end in the second half with St.Paul's being the nearest to add to the score when they hit the bar and hit the left post from the rebound. With just a couple of minutes left the Craigie keeper did his best to clear his lines but kept being drawn further and further out and St.Paul's took advantage of the empty goal with a wonderful shot from inside the centre circle to wrap up the win. A fantastic Malone hat-trick. See photos.
Grove beat Levenmouth Ac. 3-1 in the U14 Shield 1st Round and now play Alford Ac. at home. Grove scored two early goals and led 3-0 until late in the game when Levenmouth pulled one back but it turned out just to be a consolation goal. See photos.

Next game is at home to Independent Schools on 24th November. See photos.
Monday 8th November
Monifieth beat St.John's 4-3 in the DSA U14 League.
After a delayed start the first half was end to end with Monifieth taking the lead and St.John's equalising before the referee turned up! Monifieth scored again to go 2-1 up at the break. St.John's had most of the pressure in the 3rd quarter and scored twice to go ahead 3-2. But Monifieth broke to level for 3-3. Then it came down to two late penalties. St.John's scored from the spot but there was an infringement and the retake hit the bar and was cleared for a corner, so still 3-3. A foul in the box at the other end resulted in another penalty and Monifieth scored the winner from the spot. See photos.

Barnhill beat Clepington 6-2 in Arab Trust DSA Section D.
St.John's beat Harris 9-1 in the Arab Trust U15 League. St.John's were on top form going up the hill at Elliot Road and opened the scoring with a superb 30-yard strike into the bottom corner. 7-0 down at halftime Harris improved going up the hill. The first real chance for Harris was from the penalty spot but the ball hit the post. Harris did score shortly afterwards however. See photos.
Wednesday 6th October
Baldragon beat 4-1 St.Paul's in the Arab Trust U16 League. Baldragon scored very early but St.Paul's equalised midway through the half. Baldragon then scored two in a minute to lead 3-1 at the break. St.Paul's had some good chances to reduce the leeway in the second half but the nearest they came to a second goal saw a defender clear off the line. Baldragon added a 4th goal to wrap up the result. See photos.
Tuesday 5th October
Heavy rain forced the cancellation of both games, St.Pius v. Ardler in the DSA Arab Trust Small Schools League and Harris v. Grove in the Arab Trust DSA Senior League.
Wednesday 29th September
St.Francis beat Downfield 10-5 in Arab Trust DSA Section C. A sunny afternoon at North-East Campus saw a barrowload of goals in the opening game of the Primary season. Downfield quickly went 2-0 ahead but St.Francis soon settled into a goalscoring rhythm to be well in front by the halftime whistle. More goals followed in the second half which St.Francis narrowly edged 4-3 to run out 10-5 winners. See photos.
St.John's and Monifieth drew 2-2 in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League. St.John's scored the only goal in the first half, direct from a corner with some wind assistance. Monifieth equalised in the second half, hitting a lofted ball from out on the left near the touchline over the flailing keeper's arms into the far corner. Monifieth then took a 2-1 lead, netting from the penalty spot after a foul just inside the box, but their joy only lasted a minute until St.John's levelled at 2-2 with a free header. Monifieth now have three draws in a row. See photos.
Tuesday 28th September
St.John's beat Monifieth 3-2 in the Arab Trust U16 League. Monifieth took the lead in the first half but St.John's turned it round to go 2-1 up by the interval. St.John's scored again after halftime to increase their advantage to 3-1. Monifieth scored from distance to pull it back to 3-2 with time left to chase an equaliser but St.John's defended well to see the game out. See photos.
Monday 27th September
Braeview and Monifieth drew 3-3 in the Arab Trust DSA Senior League. Braeview opened the scoring in the 4th minute but Monifieth recovered to score three goals before halftime. Monifieth hit the post in the second half but the only goals after the break fell to Braeview who scored a good solo effort to trail 3-2 and with eight minutes left scored the equaliser for 3-3. Lots of chances for both teams in a fast-paced game on a sunny but windy afternoon in front of a good wee crowd - well done to all the players for a tremendous game of football with a draw a very fair result. See photos.
Monday 20th September
Monifieth beat Grove 3-2 in the Arab Trust U16 League. Monifieth played with a strong wind at their backs in the first half and opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Monifieth made it 2-0 midway through the second half following a great pass from the halfway line on the left and a strong run up the left, cutting inside to finish. However Grove fought back immediately to score from the penalty spot after a foul in the box. When Grove equalised with a few minutes left at 2-2 it looked like a draw might be a fair result. But into time added on a Monifieth free kick was converted into a goal to the delight of the home team, leaving Grove a long wind-assisted punt from the restart as the only chance of another equaliser, but it was an easy take for the Monifieth keeper as the final whistle sounded. See photos.
Wednesday 15th September
Monifieth and Grove kicked off season 21-22 with a 0-0 draw in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League. There are usually some goals in the season opener but this afternoon's derby with an early kick-off finished goalless which was probably the fairest result. It was a good solid contest, end to end throughout with everybody putting bags of effort in, but there were only a couple of chances for each team. Great to see a match on a school pitch again. See photos.
Thursday 24th June
St.Andrew's beat St.Mary's 1-0 in the DCSFA Rock Cup Final v. St.Mary's after extra time. See photos.
