Friday 31st January
St.Joseph's and St.Francis drew 5-5 in Arab Trust DSA Section C. It was the only game today but even if there had been half a dozen games around the city, this would have been the Game of the Day. Superb end-to-end action for 50 minutes at North East Campus with the lead changing hands more than once. St.Francis opened the scoring but St.Joseph's soon got their game together and turned it round to lead 2-1 but St.Francis fought back to level it up at 2-2 by the break. Into the second half it was St.Francis who regained the lead for 3-2 but a great header from a corner followed quickly by another strike put St.Joseph's ahead again at 4-3. St.Francis equalised again for 4-4 but St.Joseph's looked like they might win with a 5th goal. With a couple of minutes left it was all level again as St.Francis made it 5-5. Time ran out for any more goals so the honours were shared. A good crowd braved the sometimes strong chilly crosswind but would have been warmed up by the football served up by both teams. Well done to both teams.

Wednesday 15th January
Just under 50 pupils attended the Primary Select Trial at Baldragon Academy.
Paisley Grammar beat Monifieth 2-0 in the U14 Shield 5th Round.
Dundee beat Lanarkshire 5-3 in the U15 National Trophy Quarterfinal. With the Storm Brendan winds forecast to be around 40 or 45 mph both sides served up a good competitive game. Stuart Heenan smashed in a free kick from the edge of the box in the 17th minute to set Dundee on their way. Four minutes later Bailey Pert sent through a pass on the right for Stuart Heenan to hit across the keeper into the far corner for 2-0. In the 32nd minute Lewis Lorimer hit home a left-foot shot from 25 yards inside the left post to make it 3-0. The next minute nearly let Lanarkshire in but keeper Luca Ferguson tipped the goalbound shot onto the bar - a fantastic save! Stuart Heenan completed his hat-trick in the 36th minute with a 12-yard strike to give Dundee a 4-0 lead at the break. Now for the game into the wind - 15 minutes after the interval Lanarkshire pulled one back for 4-1. With a couple of minutes left a cross from the Lanarkshire right seemed to have been cleared off the line but it was adjudged to have crossed the line so 4-2. In the first minute of time added on a Dundee defensive misunderstanding not helped by the now stormy wind gave Lanarkshire a 3rd goal to create waves of nerves on the touchline. 90 seconds later Craig Moore sent Stuart Heenan clear on the left who fired across the keeper for the first goal into the wind, his own fourth and the clincher for Dundee to win 5-3. Lanarkshire just had time to restart before the final whistle sounded and the teams shook hands. Dundee now have a home tie in the semifinal before the end of February against the winner of North of Scotland and Paisley. Lots of good performances today which were needed against a strong Lanarkshire team and a very strong wind. The squad : Luca Ferguson (Braeview), Lewis Boylen, Morgan Garden, Finlay Lyttle, Lucas McKimmie, Bailey Pert, Fergus Scott (Grove), Lewis Lorimer, Josh McGuire (Harris), James Barclay, Ross Clark, Brodie Cussick, Arron Donald, Stuart Heenan, Craig Moore (St.John's), Blair Fyffe, Sam Ogilvie (St.Paul's) - still out but hopefully back soon : Ryan McInnes (Harris) and Jeffrey Addai-Peprah.
Thanks to Craigie HS for their help and thanks to all parents and spectators who braved the elements to support the boys.
