St.John's beat Graeme HS 3-2 at Hampden in the Senior Shield Final to lift the trophy for the second time in three years. St.John's started brightly but Graeme HS came into it after the opening 10 minutes and it was an even game till two minutes from the break when a cross from the left was tapped in at the far post to put Graeme HS 1-0 in the lead. As the game wore on some players started to go down with cramp and Graeme HS began to tire more quickly. With 13 minutes to go St.John's were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box and Archie Meekison thumped in the equaliser, 1-1. After being held at bay for long stretches St.John's were now firmly in control and Grady McGrath fired home from the left, low across the keeper, to give St.John's a 2-1 lead. Then Lyall Cameron completed the turnaround after gaining control of the ball just inside the box on the right and finishing for 3-1. St.John's put all their subs on to give them a taste of playing at Hampden but Graeme HS pulled one back in time added on for 3-2. There were still a few minutes left but St.John's were able to make sure there was no further problem in defence. The final whistle soon sounded to the delight of the St.John's crowd who celebrated as captain Ross McNaughton was presented with the shield.
