DUNDEE v. AYRSHIRE IN THE SENIOR GIRLS NATIONAL TROPHY FINAL IS AT STENHOUSEMUIR FC ON
THURSDAY 28th MARCH, KICK-OFF 4.00
Sadly the SSFA has made little attempt to consider the supporters who might now struggle to see the final at Ochilview with the ridiculously early kick-off time. Our request for a later date and a later kick-off time, such as we had last June for the first final, has been totally ignored by the controller.
7 Dec - DUNDEE PRIMARY SELECT WIN THE GLASGOW INVITATION SEVENS AT TORYGLEN
In the first tournament of the season indoors at Toryglen Dundee A / B teams both played well to win the Glasgow Invitation Sevens for the first time since it started just before covid restrictions arrived. Dundee played the A / B teams from East Ayrshire, Glasgow and South Ayrshire.
It was the first time South Ayrshire took part and after a slow start they were strong at the end. The Dundee players all received a medal from the Glasgow Schools' FA to end a good day. Full results are below (on Thursday 7th December) and the teams with their medals are pictured just below.
7 Feb - DAY 2 is now confirmed for TUESDAY 12th MARCH at TORYGLEN (indoors), 11.00 - 2.00 (a little earlier than Day 1)
PRIMARY
We are pleased to welcome three new additions to Primary to join all the schools from last season.
Inchture, Grange and Seaview are all joining for the first time to give us 37 teams altogether. We hope everybody enjoys the new season.
Fixtures in the 4 Leagues / Junior Sports Cup fixtures are below.

The Senior Girls travelled to Cove Rangers to beat Aberdeen 3-2 in the semifinal and will now play Ayrshire in the final. It was dull and cloudy with a bit of wind but after a rainy start to the trip in Dundee it was dry throughout. Dundee started with the same line-up as against Forth Valley a week ago and the first quarter was fairly even with a good shot from Dundee being well saved by the Aberdeen keeper but Dundee started to control the last 15 minutes of the first half. With half an hour gone Callie Bowman beat the Aberdeen keeper on the line at the near post with Katy West chasing in to make sure the ball had crossed the line. Nearly on the hour mark Aberdeen equalised but two minutes later Dundee regained the lead when Callie Bowman beat the offside trap to take a pass and lift the ball over the keeper into the net for her second and Dundee's second goal. Then the referee started to lose the plot and apart from being card-happy and lecture-happy he confused the crowd completely by signalling a corner for Aberdeen then 30 seconds later changed his mind to give Aberdeen a penalty after some home players claimed for handball - no VAR was available and it was perhaps no surprise that a red card followed in the chaos which followed his appalling decision.
After all the mayhem the home team levelled from the spot, so 2-2 with 20 minutes left. With a good number of home and away parents and supporters making their comments known the referee even asked the home coaches to tell the supporters to be quiet and as Dundee prepared to take a free kick the referee was shouting at the crowd that he was considering abandoning the game. 30 seconds later Angel Low out left received the free kick and beat the keeper for 3-2. Six minutes were added at the end to compensate for a couple of injuries (one of which included a confusing 30-second rule which is maybe only in the Ye May Gang Faur And Fare Waur book of rules) but Dundee were able to see a difficult game out. Indeed Dundee might have scored a fourth when Aberdeen reintroduced their original keeper while the substitute keeper
came off behind the line - it was confusing since the referee did not seem to know this was happening and the original keeper had to sprint onto the pitch towards the unprotected goal as Dundee attacked. No goal resulted from another mad moment of the anarchic second-half which finished with Dundee girls controlling the ball in the corners while Aberdeen girls pushed them over but even the referee must have thought he had booked enough already. It was all shake-hands at the end between Dundee and Aberdeen with lots of discussion points for the players and spectators to follow from a game which would be difficult to reconstruct. Our thanks to Aberdeen Association and Cove Rangers for hosting the game before a Dominos detour then back to Dundee by 4.45.
The Senior Girls beat Forth Valley 4-2 in the quarterfinal today (26 Feb). Dundee now travel to Aberdeen for the semifinal in March. On a bright sunny afternoon at Whitton Dundee opened the scoring in the 15th minute when a free kick ended up in the net after deflecting off a Forth Valley defender. In the next ten minutes Forth Valley hit the bar but Katy West also hit the bar for Dundee. Katy West then hit a great pass from her own half to send Angel Low through to score inside the left post for 2-0 (26m). But Forth Valley soon picked up on defensive indecision to pull one back, 2-1 (28m). Dundee regained their two-goal lead near halftime when Beth Collins ran down the left wing and crossed for Callie Bowman to finish from close range, 3-1 (36m). Dundee went further ahead early in the second half when Callie Bowman headed a free kick down inside the far post, 4-1 (46m). Forth Valley came back to score again when the marking could have been tighter, 4-2 (54m). That was it for the goals with the keepers at both ends playing well. All the subs got on for some action and we now look forward to a trip to Aberdeen.
The line-up : Molly Grattan (Craigie), Scarlett Brady (Harris,), Beth Collins (Craigie), Daisy Hutchison (St.Paul's), Libbie Doig (Braeview),
Maisy Stewart (St.John's), Amilie Martindale (Grove), Katy West (Grove), Angel Low (Monifieth), Callie Bowman (Braeview), Klara Brady (Harris)
Subs who all played : Elise Salmond (St.John's), Hali Cargill (Harris), Rebecca Lonie (Harris), Chenai Murray (Craigie)
The U15s went down 4-3 to North of Scotland in the quarterfinal at Whitton (6 Feb). North led 2-0 in the first half from a penalty and picking up a short backpass but Dundee levelled by halftime with two excellent goals from Travis Boyd in two minutes at the end of the half. Dundee took the lead early in the second half from an Ethan Crombie free kick touched in by Jack Anderson. But defensive lapses gave North two chances which they finished to regain the lead. Though there were ten minutes left Dundee could not score again to force a penalty shoot-out.
In the National Trophies Dundee were drawn away to Perth & Kinross in the U15s, Forth Valley in the Seniors and Angus in the Senior Girls in the coming weeks, then Dundee hosted Fife in all three competitions after the October holidays.
League fixtures are posted below.

Fife beat Dundee 4-1 in the Senior National Trophy on a very wet day to end Dundee's interest for this season on goal difference. Dundee won their first game 3-2 away to Forth Valley who then won 3-1 away to Fife. That meant a win or draw or even a 1-goal defeat would see Dundee through but it all went wrong in the first minute when a Dundee throw-in resulted in a penalty for Fife. Dundee scored to make it 1-2 at halftime when a long pass from Josh Mitchell sent Josh Holt down the wing and Harry Welsh netted the cross from close range. But two goals in the second half for Fife finished Dundee's hopes of progressing as all the games finished in away wins, so 3 points for everybody with Forth Valley and Fife both with a goal difference of +1 and Dundee with -2. Photos to come.

Dundee beat Forth Valley 3-2 in the Senior National Trophy at Stenhousemuir. On a day of wind, sun and rain which changed frequently throughout Dundee got off to the perfect start with Grove's Chase Scott setting up Harry Welsh from St.Paul's to score, officially timed at 18 seconds (beating Braeview striker Callie Bowman's 75-seconds goal v. Angus Girls on Monday by some distance though she did score 5). Forth Valley recovered immediately and arrowed a shot low into the net to level, so with only a couple of minutes gone it was 1-1. Dundee had the wind behind them in the first half which either helped or hindered but certainly caught out the home keeper when a cross from Grove's Michael Hunter on the right towards the far post seemed to pose no danger until Craigie's Lee Lorimer was on hand at the far post to put Dundee 2-1 ahead.
Forth Valley then equalised again when a headed clearance only fell to a home striker who easily found the corner of the net, 2-2. It was important for Dundee to regain the advantage before facing the wind and the makers of both goals combined to grab what was to be the winner with Chase Scott running at the defence to set up Michael Hunter who shot low from the edge of the box past the keeper, 3-2.
The second half saw no further goals for either side with both defences clearing when needed. Dundee's most exciting chance in the second half fell around ten minutes from the end when Grove's Finn Leddie burst through the centre from his own half past a few opponents, almost lost the ball but carried on into the box past more defenders and was only denied a wonderful solo goal by the keeper. Star performances throughout as well from Seb Lochhead, Brayden Bruce, Josh Mitchell so Dundee deserved the win and it is now on to a home game against Fife in November.

Currie took the lead with a break on the right finding a striker unmarked in the centre who picked his spot and finished. With halftime approaching Currie went 2 up, when a headed backpass was not hard enough, Currie took advantage to find the net. The second half started slowly but on about 50 minutes St.John's started to get grips with the game and pressed hard for an opening. With 15 minutes to go St.John's pulled one back, game on! A great 20-yard shot was going for the top corner but headed away by a defender but eventually a move on the right was finished from close range for 2-2 with only minutes remaining. Grove beat Glenrothes HS 4-3 in the U13 Shield 1st Round and now play St.John's. Grove came from behind at a wet Whitton and both sides could have had a penalty but Glenrothes missed an absolute sitter near halftime - the striker had outpaced the defence, beaten the keeper and ran in the last ten yards for a simple tap-in into the empty goal, but two yards out he hit the ball over the bar to earn the Miss of the Season award. Some photos to come.
St.John's beat Baldragon 4-1 while Morgan beat St.Paul's 3-1 in the Arab Trust U16 League. Morgan led 2-0 then St.Paul's were awarded a penalty but sent it past the post. Morgan then showed how to score a penalty before halftime to go 3 up. Plenty of chances for both sides in the second half but no goals until very late in the game when St.Paul's headed home a corner. Photos to come.
Wednesday 4th October
Longhaugh beat Rowantree 5-0 in DSA Arab Trust Section A.

Perth & Kinross and Dundee drew 0-0 in the U15 National Trophy. At the end of a good competitive game at Letham, with Dundee hitting the woodwork more than once in the last quarter, Dundee won the penalty shoot-out 4-1 which might come into play at the end of the league games. Waid replied with a second goal but Grove's attacking won a second penalty which this time hit the net.
Photos to come.
St.Paul's beat Harris 5-1 in the Arab Trust U15 League. After an even start at Baldragon it was St.Paul's who took the lead though very few people saw it - a Harris goal kick must have been played short, St.Paul's won the ball and it ended up in the net, 1-0 with a lot of "What happened there?" comments. The second goal looped over the keeper from outside the box, 2-0 at halftime. Some good goals in the second half with shots from the edge of the area or on the break from 25 to 30 yards while Harris scored for 3-1 after a corner. Photos to come.
Monday 2nd October
Harris beat Braeview 5-2 in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League. Harris scored first but Braeview equalised from the penalty spot two minutes later. Harris scored again then hit a free kick straight into the net right on halftime to lead 3-1. A fourth goal early in the 2nd half put Harris in control. Wednesday 20th September
Dundee line-up : Harvey Thain (Braeview), Cain Buchanan (St.John's), Cole Perrie (Morgan), Seb Lochhead (St.John's), Bryn Thompson (Grove), Chase Scott (Grove), Josh Mitchell (St.John's), Brayden Bruce (Braeview), Michael Hunter (Grove), Lee Lorimer (Craigie), Harry Welsh (St.Paul's)
Subs who all played : Luca Perrie (Morgan), Josh Holt (St.Paul's), Finn Leddie (Grove), Rhys Maddison (Morgan), Lennox Tendhar (Craigie).
Photos to come.

Monday 18th September
St.Paul's beat Braeview 3-2 in the Arab Trust U15 League. Little between the teams in a good competitive game at Baldragon. Braeview trailed 2-1 but hit a superb 25-yarder to equalise. Then it came down to two penalties for fouls just inside the box - Braeview had the chance to go 3-2 up but St.Paul's saved the penalty and in the second half St.Paul's scored what was the winner from the spot. Photos to come.
Dundee beat Angus 9-0 in the Senior Girls National Trophy at Arbroath HS. Dundee scored after 75 seconds and controlled the game with goals at regular intervals. Lots of good performances from players from the winning team at Stenhousemuir three months ago who worked well with the new recruits to stop the home team scoring while adding to the Dundee goals. Next game is home to Fife in November.
Dundee line-up : Molly Grattan (Craigie), Scarlett Brady (Harris, 1), Beth Collins (Craigie), Daisy Hutchison (St.Paul's), Libbie Doig (Braeview), Maisy Stewart (St.John's, 1), Amilie Martindale (Grove, 3), Katy West (Grove, 1), Angel Low (Monifieth, 3), Callie Bowman (Braeview, 5),
Elise Salmond (St.John's). Subs who all played : Charlie Creamer (Grove), Katie MacFarlane (Grove), Laura Smith (Grove, 1), Klara Brady (Harris), Hali Cargill (Harris), Amy Smith (St.John's)

A good game to start the season. Photos to come.
