Above : ST.JOHN'S (ORANGE) v. LARBERT HS (SKY) IN THE U14 SHIELD 5th ROUND (SECOND HALF)
Wednesday 23rd January
St.John's beat Larbert HS 5-1 in the U14 Shield 5th Round and now travel to Glasgow to play the winner of John Paul Ac. or St.Aloysius College.
On a very cold day at Baldragon a close game took a turn when St.John's doubled their lead just before the break with a scrappy goal. It was still an even game until St.John's blasted in a 25-yarder and took the game by the scruff of the neck. Even conceding a penalty which Larbert converted for 4-1 did not affect St.John's who finished 5-1 winners as temperatures started to plummet once the sun dropped behind the hill.
They now join Grove who won yesterday so Dundee has 2 teams in the last 8.
With Morgan v. Harris being postponed 24 hours earlier, St.John's v. Morgan in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League fell foul of the weather.
Scotland and Australia drew 2-2 in the Friendly International at Stenhousemuir, following a move from Renfrew FC where Tuesday's snow had forced a cancellation. Scotland scored early in each half but Australia equalised midway through each half. Finlay Baird played the whole game with Archie Meekison and Josh McConville appearing in the second half.

St.John's beat Nicolson Institute 9-1 in the Senior Shield 4th Round and now play Mearns Castle HS at home. In a 9.30 kick-off at Baldragon, giving Nicolson the chance to get back to Ullapool to catch their evening ferry home to Stornoway, St.John's served up some good football and opened the scoring in 7 minutes when the keeper could not get rid of a backpass quickly enough. Nicolson came back four minutes later to equalise from the penalty spot after a foul in the box but St.John's regained the lead a minute later and by halftime led 4-1. St.John's did not let up and scored three minutes into the second half. The Nicolson boys never gave up, showed a great attitude and played some good football as well despite chasing a lost cause and were a credit to their school.
