THIS PAGE IS BEING WORKED ON .........
Welcome to Dundee Schools' Football Association Archives.
The pages at the top are divided into Primary, Secondary and Select for each season back to 2008-09 which is when photo records began.
On the Primary pages there are full league results, league tables, cup results, match reports and lots of photos from each season.
On the Secondary pages there are full league results, league tables, cup results, match reports and lots of photos from each season. Angus Soccer One League records are also to be found on each Secondary page back to 2009-10.
On the Select pages there are results, reports and photos from each season. Primary info is at the top, U15 National Trophy info in the middle and Senior National Trophy info at the foot of each Select page.
The general format is that the match reports are in the order of the most recently played games at the top and the oldest games at the foot.
The pages for seasons 14-15 and 13-14 are now being updated - this will take a wee bit of time.
Season 13-14 had another national success as its main highlight. The U15 Select went one better than last year - this time Dundee lifted the TSB U15 National Trophy for the first time since 1988. After several years in the doldrums this was the third season in a row that a Dundee team played in a national final. Following the excitement of winning the Senior National Trophy 3-1 against Forth Valley at Dens in 2012, it was over to the U15 team to reach the final against Lanarkshire at Spartans in 2013 and now a visit to Broxburn met with a 4-2 win over a good Ayrshire team in a cracking final.

The pattern of the run to the final was strangely similar to that of the successful Seniors of 2012 : the Seniors lost their opening game at home against Aberdeen, and then beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Whitton Park when they faced them again in the semifinal, this year the U15s lost their opening game at home against Aberdeenshire but won 2-0 at Whitton Park when they played Aberdeenshire again in the semifinal. Both teams were runners-up in their group, which meant an away trip in the quarterfinal - both teams surrendered a late equaliser to their opponents (Glasgow for the Seniors, Aberdeen for the U15s) yet went on to win the resulting penalty shoot-out.
On the domestic front Barnhill swept all before them, with a tremendous record of seventeen wins out of seventeen - ten league wins and seven cup wins - which gave them the treble for the second time in three years. Never having won the Junior Sports Cup till 2012 Barnhill have now won the Junior Sports Cup three years in a row. Only St.Mary's Forebank back in the 1930s can beat this record with four consecutive victories. The Barnhill win in the Burgess Cup against Forthill was superb entertainment, as so many recent games between the two rivals have been. The Junior Sports Cup Final saw Barnhill play Claypotts Castle for the second year running in another goalfest.
In Secondary Grove retained the Johnston Trophy which means that some of the sixth years in the team will have won a cup every year from U13s in 2009 all the way through to Seniors in 2014. Grove U13s, Monifieth U14s and St.John's U15s won the league and cup double.
Season 12-13 was a season seriously disrupted by the weather. A very cold March posed numerous problems, meaning that many issues were only decided in the last week or so. The U15 Select reached the final of the Lloyds TSB Scotland U15 National Trophy but went down 2-0 to Lanarkshire, the highlights of the campaign being a last-minute win in snow-covered Inverness to qualify for the quarterfinal and a 4-3 win in Stirling against a very good Forth Valley team in the quarterfinal.
Harris U14s did well to reach the final of the Lloyds TSB Scotland Plate competition, their highlight being the comeback in the semifinal against Carrick Academy - trailing 3-0 after 30 minutes, bringing it back to 4-4 and winning an epic penalty shoot-out.
Amy Gallacher (Morgan) scored a second-half hat-trick in a 5-0 win over England in the U15 International at Toryglen, a couple of weeks after scoring the vital goal against the Republic of Ireland which secured the Bob Docherty Trophy in the tournament played in Belfast.
Forthill and Barnhill met twice in 5 days to prove that two games are never the same. On the Friday afternoon in the Junior Sports Cup semifinal Barnhill surrendered a 2-goal lead but eventually beat Forthill on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra time. This mattered little the following Tuesday in the Burgess Cup Final when Barnhill seemed to have the game wrapped up right after the interval with a 4th goal but Forthill fought back to win 6-4. Barnhill spirits were not daunted and two days later retained the Junior Sports Cup with a 5-3 win against Claypotts Castle.
Season 11-12 is best remembered for the Senior National Trophy win against Forth Valley at Dens Park in April. The Seniors started with a late defeat to Aberdeen, but the team got stronger and stronger throughout the season.
A tremendous performance at Toryglen against the highly-fancied Glasgow team saw Dundee win on penalties after a 3-3 draw which guaranteed a rematch against Aberdeen in the semifinal. A 2-0 win gave the Dundee boys a place in the final for the first time since 1997 and a 3-1 win at Dens brought the trophy back to Dundee.
Secondary highlights included the U13 Logie Cup Final between Craigie and St.John's which Craigie won on penalties after a 4-4 extra-time game.
The season finished with another classic at Fairfield Park where St.Paul's came from 2-0 down to beat Harris 3-2 in extra-time in the U17 George Grant Memorial Trophy.
Primary highlights included the Cameron Cup Final where Downfield won 8-4 in extra-time against Craigowl and Ancrum Road's 4-2 win over St.Mary's in the Linton Cup Final.
Season 10-11 was a successful one with many memorable moments. The 10-10 draw after extra time between St.Luke's & St.Matthew's and Claypotts Castle in the 1st Round of the Junior Sports Cup, played in the pouring September rain, was an early highlight. The Thomson Cup Final where Glebelands beat Craigiebarns 7-5 was one of the best finals seen at Elliot Road, and the Senior Johnston Trophy Final at Tannadice had the crowd on the edge of their seats with St.John's and Morgan drawing 3-3, St.John's winning 8-7 after a tremendous penalty shoot-out.
Season 09-10 was a long one with many problems created by adverse weather conditions throughout the winter.
There were many firsts (some resulting from the weather) :
the first time a competitive game has ever been played in July, the U16 League being decided on 1st July, the day before schools broke up for the summer holidays,
the first time the Small Schools League and Cup, the Dundee Girls Football League and the Angus Bank of Scotland Soccer One League have operated (all with great success),
the first time a Junior Sports Cup game was played indoors when Whitfield played in Craigowl's sports hall,
the first trophies for St.Andrew's PS, St.Paul's Ac., the first league title for Clepington PS, the first wins at Senior level for Baldragon Ac., the first U14 cup win for Grove Ac., the first Junior Sports Cup for Craigowl PS,
the first time we have had cup finals held in three regions, with 2 Primary finals and the U13 final taking place in Invergowrie (Perth & Kinross) and the U16 Caira final taking place in Monifieth (Angus). For the record we have played a final in Fife when the Caira final took place in Tayport back in the 90s, so we have now covered all the East Region.
Sat 22 May 10 - WEMBLEY, HAMPDEN - THE DSFA CONNECTION
Today sees the multi-million pound game at Wembley to decide who will play in the Premier League next season. Who will go up with Newcastle and West Brom to play the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United? Will it be Blackpool or will it be Cardiff?
Bizarre as it may seem, there is Dundee interest in the game. Charlie Adam, captain of Blackpool, played his school football for Braeview, while Cardiff defender Kevin McNaughton played for St.John's. Though the age difference means that they would not have faced each other at school, their appearance in the Championship Play-off Final, worth an estimated £90 million to the winning club, will no doubt be of interest to those connected with Braeview and St.John's.
Last weekend two other former players from Braeview featured in the big time when Gary Kenneth and Scott Robertson played for Dundee United in the Cup Final against Ross County at Hampden, with ex-Harris players Lee Wilkie and Craig Brewster also involved in non-playing roles.
And ex-Dundee and Menzieshill player Brian Deasley scored the final goal for Forfar in their play-off game against Arbroath which saw the Loons promoted to the 2nd division.
Who will be the next player from the ranks of Dundee Schools' FA to be involved in such end of season dramas?
.............................................As we now know Blackpool won promotion, making it a very successful week for ex-Braeview players.
Mon 19 Apr 10 - VOLCANIC DISRUPTION
As if the winter had not been long enough the recent volcanic eruption at Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland caused the postponement of tonight's U16 Dundee United Cup 1st Round match between St.Paul's and Morgan. With players still stranded abroad because of the flight restrictions created by the volcanic ash the long-awaited game was put off till Thursday 22nd.
Tues 30 Mar 10 - SAD NEWS
It was with great sadness that we had to announce that Bill Ferrier passed away in hospital on Monday 29th March. Bill taught last at Linlathen HS and was a former President of the Dundee Schools' Football Association, a Life Member of the Association as well as a Life Member of the Scottish Schools' Football Association.
Though he had been retired for a long time, he always took an active part in the work of the Association and was a member of the DSFA Executive Committee. Bill was an ever-present at all Primary and Secondary Cup Finals, as well as assisting with many SSFA competitions, such as Shield semifinals, Coca Cola Sevens and Bank of Scotland Soccer Sevens tournaments. His wealth of experience and his presence behind the scenes will be sorely missed.
The funeral service took place on Tuesday 6th April 2010 at the Crematorium.
