ST.JOHN'S U16s AND SENIORS WIN AT EAST CRAIGIE
Friday 31st May : St.John's won the U16 Robert Caira Memorial Trophy Final (sponsored by DSA) 3-2 against Grove at East Craigie. St.John's opened the scoring but Grove hit back in the second half to lead 2-1. St.John's equalised for 2-2 and with a penalty shoot-out looming St.John's hit the winner. John Burke of DSA presented the teams with their medals before handing the Caira Trophy to St.John's.
In the DSA Arab Trust Senior Champions League Final Grove scored early and led 1-0 at halftime. St.John's levelled in the second half and grew stronger as the game went on and hit the target twice to wrap it up 3-1 before DSA's John Burke presented medals and the League Shield to St.John's.
GROVE WIN ARAB TRUST U15 LEAGUE
Thursday 30th May : In a good competitive game at a very wet Riverside Grove beat Harris 7-3 in the deciding game to wrap up the league.

ST.JOHN'S WIN U16 SHIELD FINAL 2-0 v. BOCLAIR AC. AT AIRDRIE WITH TWO LATE GOALS (see report for 20th March)
U16 SHIELD SEMIFINAL (Fri 1st March)
In a good entertaining U16 semifinal at Linlithgow Rose St.John's fell behind in the first couple of minutes against Braidhurst HS from Motherwell. St.John's came back into the game with an equaliser but Braidhurst netted again to lead 2-1 at the break. Braidhurst went 3-1 ahead early in the second half but St.John's played well to score twice and bring it all level again.
Both keepers made superb saves from 20 yard shots at the beech end and at the end of the 3-3 draw both keepers were going to be the centre of attention for the penalty shoot-out. Braidhurst took the first kick and the first four were all scored for 2-2. Then St.John's saved a Panenka-style Braidhurst penalty and scored their own to lead 3-2. Braidhurst hit the bar with their fourth and St.John's continued to find the net with their own fourth to reach the final 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw. In the other semifinal Boclair Ac. beat Broughton HS 2-1 in a close game at Broxburn. Broughton scored early in the first half but Boclair, who knocked out Monifieth in the quarterfinal, scored twice in the second half - all the goals into the wind.

LATEST NEWS
Thursday 20th June
Craigowl visited North East Campus for an entertaining friendly against St.Francis to bring the season to a close. See photos.
Rowantree v. Glebelands in DSA Arab Trust Section A was off.
St.John's beat Grove 7-0 in the Arab Trust U16 Champions League. Grove got off to the worst possible start, conceding a penalty in the first minute. St.John's moved quickly into a 3-goal lead, added a lovely 4th goal with a long-range shot in off the far post and led 6-0 at the interval. Grove had several chances on the break into the strong wind but the best they did was hit the post. The wind died down in the second half and an entertaining half of football ensued with no further goals until near the end when St.John's closed the game out with a 7th before receiving the league shield. See photos.
Monday 17th June
Mill of Mains v. Glebelands in DSA Arab Trust Section A was off.
Friday 14th June
Craigiebarns beat Forthill 2-1 in the Junior Sports Cup Final. In an excellent game in front of a good crowd on the first sunny night for over a week Craigiebarns took the lead right on halftime but a Michael Hunter header levelled at the start of the second half. Craigiebarns regained the lead when a shot looked to be cleared off the line at the top end but it was adjudged to have crossed the line. There was plenty of time left for chances for both sides and Forthill smashed a header inches past the post late in the game to the gasps of the crowd. But Craigiebarns who last won the Junior Sports Cup 1-0 also over Forthill back in 2011 were able to repeat their feat of keeping a goal ahead and do the triple of Junior Sports Cup, Thomson Cup and Section C (even though the triple share of the league complicates matters this season). Michael Hunter of Forthill won the Bill Ferrier Man of the Match Trophy. See photos.
St.Joseph's beat St.Francis 7-2 in the Fairtrade Football Rock Cup Final (sponsored by Walker the Jeweller), courtesy of DCSFA, in the last of the week's finals at Elliot Road. St.Joseph's scored early and hit some sweet goals but St.Francis entertained the crowd as well with a get-on-with-it attitude and scored a couple of good goals. But two cup wins in a week for St.Joseph's is a fair return. See photos.
Thanks to all spectators who came along on any of the nights to enjoy the football and cheer on their players, and thanks to League sponsors DSA and Arab Trust for showing their interest in how our cups play out. At least the Friday games proved to be a sunny ending to the week after some dull and cold days earlier. Apologies to any local residents who were inconvenienced on the nights.

Grove beat Harris 7-3 in Arab Trust U15 Champions League to lift the shield. On a cold wet miserable afternoon at Riverside Grove scored twice early on, Harris pulled one back then Grove scored again to restore the two-goal advantage by the break. Shortly after halftime Harris hit twice to draw level at 3-3 and it was all up for grabs now. The hectic nature of the early 2nd half was soon calmed by a fourth goal for Grove. The game was well balanced till the last 10 minutes or so when Grove pressure paid off with goals to see them build up a good lead to secure the title win. See photos.

Harris had the chance to equalise right on halftime after Monifieth handled in the box but the penalty was saved by the keeper. Harris levelled on the hour with a header at the far post from a corner on the right for 1-1. There was still time for both teams to make good chances - Harris looked to go into the lead but cleared the bar instead while Monifieth could have won it near the end but forced the Harris keeper into a great save to give away a corner. Harris beat St.John's 4-2 in the Arab Trust U15 Champions League.
Dumfries & Galloway beat Dundee 4-2 in the Senior National Trophy Semifinal. A disappointing exit from the Senior National Trophy in Dumfries with half a team missing. With only Cameron McCormack available from St.John's it meant drafting in a number of younger replacements from Grove and Harris to replace the missing 5 from the starting quarterfinal line-up. The game was close till the half-hour mark when a highly debatable decision by the home referee gave Dumfries & Galloway a penalty for 1-0. A defensive mistake gave a gift of a second goal to D&G a couple of minutes later, so 2-0 at halftime. D&G increased the lead in the second half with a good goal from a corner then their big striker took advantage of a shot which was only parried to bundle home for 4-0. In the last half hour D&G started to tire and Dundee came back into it with a great shot from distance from Fraser Macleod then Chris Mudie scored at the far post from a corner to make it 4-2. Dundee pressed hard for a 3rd which would have set up a good finish to the game but D&G did enough to hold on to 4-2. Team : Fraser Burnett, Luke Benvie, Chris Mudie, Scott Glennie, Lewis Stracey, Finlay Baird, Fraser Macleod, Ryan Hunt, Liam Duell, Craig Bruce, Ruari McQuillan (Grove), Josh McConville, Kieron Dolan (Harris), Cammy McCormack (St.John's). Friday 17th May
Monifieth beat Harris 3-2 in the DSA U13 Champions League. Monifieth hit a late winner at Riverside to beat Harris in a close game. Harris had an early penalty saved but scored midway through the first half. With the strong wind behind them Monifieth equalised 5 minutes after the break with a shot which hit the underside of the bar and bounced over the line but Harris soon regained the lead with a shot from just inside the box for 2-1. In the last 10 minutes Monifieth hit a fierce shot from outside the box to level again and soon more Monifieth pressure led to a corner which was firmly headed home to lead 3-2. See photos.

Forthill beat Barnhill 5-1 in the Burgess Cup Semifinal. On a sunny but still chilly afternoon at Gillies Park Forthill went into the break 1 up and doubled their advantage right at the start of the second half. A long-range strike in off the post and a close range goal from a corner put Forthill 4 ahead before Barnhill pulled one back going up the hill. Forthill made it 5-1 with the last kick of the game to put themselves into the final a month away. It is too early to say who they could meet in the final with a couple of games still to be played in the other half of the draw.

Monday 6th May
St.John's beat Grove 5-1 in the U14 Urquhart Trophy Final (sponsored by DSA) at Dens Park. Goals started early with Fergus Scott finishing at the far post in the 3rd minute from a corner on the left to put Grove into the lead. St.John's then equalised following a corner on the right with Brodie Cussick scoring for 1-1 in the 7th minute. A free kick for St.John's saw Ross Clark put them in front seven minutes later, and the lead was increased to 3-1 by Stuart Heenan in the 21st minute. St.John's had most of the pressure now and Stuart Heenan scored his second of the game to extend the lead to 4-1 in the 27th minute. Any hopes of a Grove comeback were thwarted 30 seconds after the break with Craig Moore lifting the ball over the keeper for 5-1 for St.John's. However that was the last of the goals as the game settled down to an even contest with the keepers now in control. John Burke (DSA) and Stephen Wright (DFC) presented the players with their medals at the end of the game and the Urquhart Trophy to St.John's. See photos.
Baldragon beat St.John's 5-2 in the U15 Senior Sports Cup Final (sponsored by DSA) at Dens Park. Baldragon sported their new strips of yellow and black strips for the occasion and there were lots of goals in a highly entertaining final. In the 6th minute Baldragon took the lead when the St.John's keeper could not hold on to a firm shot and Ryan McGregor netted the rebound. The joy was short-lived as a Baldragon backpass to the keeper was underhit which allowed Jonah McCallum to nip in between defender and keeper for the chance to equalise, 1-1 (10th minute). Baldragon had opportunities to regain the lead with a couple of easier chances to convert being passed up and a good run from Ryan McGregor nearly catching the keeper out at the near post, but Ryan McGregor beat the keeper in the 29th minute to put Baldragon 2-1 up at halftime. The good game continued into the second half and Baldragon went further in front when Kyler Van Der Toorn hit a fierce left-footed strike into the roof of the net from 6 yards in the 57th minute, 3-1. Eight minutes later Aiden Law struck home from the edge of the box for 4-1 (65m) but St.John's gave themselves hope another eight minutes later when Luca Snee reduced the leeway to 4-2 (73m). With time almost up Ryan McGregor finished a cross to secure his hat-trick and make the final score 5-2. John Burke (DSA) and Stephen Wright (DFC) presented the players with their medals and Baldragon captain Kyler Van Der Toorn was presented with the Senior Sports Cup, the first time Baldragon have lifted this cup. Ben Garrick scored the opener for St.John's in the 14th minute, added to it in the 36th minute with a good strike from the right then completed his hat-trick almost on the halftime whistle. St.John's also hit the bar in the first half and went into the break leading 3-0 thanks to Ben Garrick's hat-trick. Monifieth fought hard in the second half to pull one back and forced keeper Connor Kerr into some good saves but St.John's finished it off in the last minute with a goal from Flynn Duffy for 4-0. A good sporting encounter between the two sides with ultimately the National champions coming out on top. Stuart Campbell from Arab Trust presented all the players with their medals and the Dundee United Cup to St.John's. See photos.
St.John's beat Grove 4-0 in the Senior Johnston Trophy Final at Tannadice. Just days after winning the Senior Shield at Hampden St.John's also lifted the Senior Johnston Trophy after a good performance against Grove. St.John's took an early lead when Dylan Harkin converted a corner in the 6th minute and a good strike from Grady McGrath in the 27th minute doubled the score. The best chance for Grove was a Josh Mulligan free kick from 25 yards which hit the angle of bar and post but the halftime score was 2-0 for St.John's. Grove's hopes of a recovery were dented three minutes after the restart when Archie Meekison raced down the right and hit a glorious strike into the far corner, 3-0. Cameron McCormack finished the scoring in the 65th minute by controlling a long pass 5 yards out and striking home for 4-0. St.John's regained the lead in the second half with a great 20-yard volley from Rory Macleod but Boclair's physical challenge and speed gave them good chances and they were soon 4-2 up. With plenty of time left the next goal was going to be crucial but it fell to Boclair with a couple of minutes left to finish the game. St.John's started brightly but Graeme HS came into it after the opening 10 minutes and it was an even game till two minutes from the break when a cross from the left was tapped in at the far post to put Graeme HS 1-0 in the lead. As the game wore on some players started to go down with cramp and Graeme HS began to tire more quickly. With 13 minutes to go St.John's were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box and Archie Meekison thumped in the equaliser, 1-1. After being held at bay for long stretches St.John's were now firmly in control and Grady McGrath fired home from the left, low across the keeper, to give St.John's a 2-1 lead. Then Lyall Cameron completed the turnaround after gaining control of the ball just inside the box on the right and finishing for 3-1. St.John's put all their subs on to give them a taste of playing at Hampden but Graeme HS pulled one back in time added on for 3-2. There were still a few minutes left but St.John's were able to make sure there was no further problem in defence. Cammy Ross opened the scoring in the 70th minute and Grady McGrath doubled the lead 3 minutes later. St.Margaret's HS beat Harris 3-1 in the U15 Shield 6th Round. The Airdrie team took an early lead but Harris equalised from a great free kick a few minutes from the break. St.Margaret's had the strong wind (Storm Gareth) behind them going up the hill in the second half and regained the lead from a corner. Harris struggled to get into their opponent's half because of the wind, to the extent that the keeper took a goal kick which curled back towards him and he had to give a foul away when he caught it. With a minute left St.Margaret's scored a third to wrap it up. See photos.

Dundee games
A difficult day for the Dundee teams with the As losing three games without scoring, 0-1 v. East Ayrshire A, 0-1 v. Edinburgh B and 0-2 v. Hamilton A, with the only light coming from a 1-1 draw v. Glasgow B thanks to a goal from Brayden Bruce. In the crossover game it was another 1-1 draw with Sebastian Lochhead scoring against East Ayrshire B in the game between 5th and 5th.
The Bs had a better day but dropped two places in the end because of an inferior goal difference. A bizarre own goal from a Glasgow A defender presented them with a 1-0 win, followed by a 0-0 draw v. Edinburgh A. Things looked good when Keir Gilligan scored the only goal with a 1-0 win against East Ayrshire B. Though Michael Hunter scored in the last game, two goals from Hamilton B gave Dundee B their only defeat. The Bs finished with 7 points and the last games saw two other teams equal 7 points but with a better goal difference, leaving the Bs to drop to 3rd place. In an exciting crossover game Dundee B beat Edinburgh B 3-2 with two goals from Michael Hunter and one from Cain Buchanan. At the end of the day Dundee slipped another point behind leaders East Ayrshire and were overtaken by Hamilton who had a strong performance as well as Glasgow. So it is 4th place just now but anything can happen on the last day on the grass at Meggetland in Edinburgh on Wednesday 15th May.

Dundee beat Forth Valley 5-0 in the Senior National Trophy Quarterfinal and now play away to Dumfries & Galloway who beat North of Scotland 4-2. After a hard first half-hour Dundee took the lead with a solo from Lyall Cameron in the 36th minute, doubling the lead six minutes later when Finlay Baird finished off a Callum Bisset cross at the far post. Four minutes into the second half Josh Mulligan fed Lyall Cameron who set up Fraser Macleod for 3-0. In the 52nd minute Lyall Cameron then laid the ball off to Josh Mulligan for 4-0. Dundee could have made it 5 shortly after when a Forth Valley handball became a penalty kick but the keeper saved. However another penalty for a trip just inside the box made it 5-0 when Ross McNaughton converted. All the subs got on for a good chunk of time and enjoyed the win. Starting line-up : Fraser Burnett, Callum Bisset, Chris Mudie, Josh McConville, Scott Glennie, Finlay Baird, Finlay Robertson, Fraser Macleod, Lyall Cameron, Josh Mulligan, Grady McGrath. St.Mary's and Glebelands drew 1-1 in DSA Arab Trust Section A. With poles for goals at Lochee Park the two teams served up a good match on a pleasant afternoon. Grange Ac. beat Grove 5-1 in the U14 Shield 6th Round. Grange opened the scoring but Grove equalised to make it 1-1 at the break. Grange moved into a 3-1 lead early in the second half and added a couple more later on for good measure. See photos.

Rowantree beat Longhaugh 3-1 in DSA Arab Trust Section A.
Harris beat Grange Ac. 3-2 in the U15 Shield 5th Round and now play St.Margaret's HS from Airdrie at home in the 6th. Harris led 1-0 at the break from a header at the far post following a corner on the right in the 31st minute. A rash Harris challenge just inside the box fairly early in the second half gave Grange the chance to equalise from the penalty spot and a good kick made it 1-1. Three goals in three minutes midway through the half decided the game. First of all Harris broke down the left and fired past the keeper for 2-1. A minute later Grange levelled again from a nearpost finish after a corner for 2-2 but within a minute Harris regained the lead when the Grange keeper could only parry a firm shot out to his left for Harris to thump the ball into the roof of the net. Plenty of chances for both teams in the remaining 20 minutes but Harris held on to reach the last 8. See photos.

Rowantree beat Camperdown 1-0 in DSA Arab Trust Section A.
Grove beat Morgan 9-1 in the DSA U14 League.
St.Paul's and Craigie drew 2-2 in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League. St.Paul's converted a free kick to take the lead about ten minutes from the interval but Craigie broke through the middle to fire in a great shot to make it 1-1. St.Paul's regained the lead in the second half and a penalty gave them the chance to go further ahead except the Craigie keeper saved the kick. Craigie eventually grabbed an equaliser and a good blood and guts game ended with honours even. See photos.
St.John's beat Mearns Castle HS 4-2 in the Senior Shield 5th Round and now play St.Andrew's Ac. at home in the 6th Round. St.John's scored in two minutes and went on to dominate the first half and lead 4-0 at the break. The second half was fairly even with St.John's passing up several chances which only looked to matter when Mearns Castle scored a couple of goals with about 15 minutes left. The full comeback was denied and St.John's move through to play St.Andrew's Ac. from Paisley. See photos.

St.John's beat Firrhill HS 9-1 in the SSFA U13 Shield 5th Round and now play Boclair Ac. away. With the weather forcing a late switch to Baldragon Ac. St.John's took a 3-goal lead into the break. In the second half St.John's had the storm winds behind them which made it difficult for the visitors from Edinburgh to make much impact. St.John's benefited from one case of defensive uncertainty late in the game to add to their score but otherwise they scored good goals. Firrhill finally grabbed a well earned consolation goal with the last kick of the game to a big cheer from the supporters. See photos.
Thursday 7th February
Boclair Ac. beat Monifieth 3-0 in the U16 Shield 5th Round. The end of the road for Monifieth as Boclair scored three without reply. The first half was even with chances for both teams but it was Boclair who cashed in when the Monifieth defence backed off the dangerous no.11 who used the space to fire home after half an hour. The tremendous noise made by a full sideline of Monifieth pupils enjoying their lunch break suddenly faded away. The roars returned as the second half started but, once the afternoon bell sounded, the seagulls took over and Boclair helped themselves to another couple of goals. The last 15 minutes were all Monifieth pressure but time and again they were denied by the superb Boclair keeper who was the best man on the park. The December game against Grange Ac. when the winners of last season's U15 Shield were knocked out on penalties will live long in the memory but Boclair brought the dream to an end. The chance of a Monifieth v. St.John's U16 Shield Final is now gone and we wonder if Boclair might meet St.John's in the final. Time will tell. See photos.
Banff Ac. beat St.Paul's 7-0 in the Senior Girls Shield 3rd Round. Banff started strongly hitting the bar and post with firm shots with the rebounds being knocked high or wide or falling into the hands of the keeper. Banff opened the scoring in 6 minutes and were gifted a chance for the 2nd from the penalty spot, following a defensive communication problem. Banff scored the 3rd soon after halftime and added a 4th on the hour mark to seal the win. St.Paul's had some chances going just wide in their attempts to get a consolation goal and never gave up but Banff finished the game with three quick goals just before the final whistle. Well done to Banff Ac. who played well and it will be interesting to follow their progress in the rest of the competition. See photos.
Wednesday 6th February
St.Clement's beat St.Pius 3-0 in the DSA Arab Trust Small Schools League.
Monifieth beat Baldragon 8-3 in the DSA U13 League. Monifieth led 5-1 at halftime and the second half was fairly even. See photos.
Tuesday 5th February
Craigiebarns beat St.Francis 7-2 in Arab Trust DSA Section C.
Forthill beat Barnhill 5-0 in Arab Trust DSA Section D. Forthill were a couple of goals ahead after only a few minutes and looked impressive. See photos.
Boroughmuir HS beat Grove 7-0 in the U15 Girls Shield 3rd Round. The first attempt to play the game back in December had been called off at halftime with a 0-0 scoreline because of pouring rain at Dawson Park. This time it was 2-0 for the Edinburgh girls at the break on a cold but dry afternoon at Craigie and the visitors added more goals in the second half, denying Grove any chance for a consolation goal. See photos.
St.John’s beat St.Andrew's & St.Bride's HS 3-2 in the U16 Shield 5th Round to reach the semifinal against Duncanrig Sec. or Braidhurst HS. St.John's took a 2-goal lead into the break in East Kilbride thanks to Lewis Neilson and Chris Mochrie, the home team then pulled one back before Ruari Henry scored a 3rd. A penalty for St.Andrew's & St.Bride's finished off the scoring.
Monday 4th February
Grove beat St.Thomas of Aquins School 3-1 in the Senior Shield 5th Round and now face last year's winners Cathkin HS at home in the 6th Round. Grove were the better team in the second half and equalised after the hour through Finlay Baird. Fraser Macleod then slipped past the keeper to put Grove 2-1 up and Josh Mulligan raced through from the halfway line, outpacing a defender and beating the keeper from just inside the box to finish the game. See photos.

St.John's beat Larbert HS 5-1 in the U14 Shield 5th Round and now travel to Glasgow to play the winner of John Paul Ac. or St.Aloysius College.
On a very cold day at Baldragon a close game took a turn when St.John's doubled their lead just before the break with a scrappy goal. It was still an even game until St.John's blasted in a 25-yarder and took the game by the scruff of the neck. Even conceding a penalty which Larbert converted for 4-1 did not affect St.John's who finished 5-1 winners as temperatures started to plummet once the sun dropped behind the hill.
They now join Grove who won yesterday so Dundee has 2 teams in the last 8. See photos.
With Morgan v. Harris being postponed 24 hours earlier, St.John's v. Morgan in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League fell foul of the weather.

In a 9.30 kick-off at Baldragon, giving Nicolson the chance to get back to Ullapool to catch their evening ferry home to Stornoway, St.John's served up some good football and opened the scoring in 7 minutes when the keeper could not get rid of a backpass quickly enough. Nicolson came back four minutes later to equalise from the penalty spot after a foul in the box but St.John's regained the lead a minute later and by halftime led 4-1. St.John's did not let up and scored three minutes into the second half. The Nicolson boys never gave up, showed a great attitude and played some good football as well despite chasing a lost cause and were a credit to their school. See photos.
Friday 11th January
St.John's beat Ross HS 2-1 in the U16 Shield 4th Round and now face a trip to East Kilbride to play St.Andrew's & St.Bride's HS. An exciting game at Monifieth where the home team put out last season's U15 Shield winners. The Kilmarnock team took the lead in 5 minutes from a 25-yard free kick which foxed the keeper. Monifieth were behind for about 10 minutes before taking advantage of a defensive slip to equalise. The lunchtime crowd enjoyed the first half which ended 1-1.
With second-half chances being well defended or passed up, inevitably it came down to penalties. Monifieth's first kick was saved as was Grange's second kick, so after the first 8 penalties it was 3-3. Grange then hit their 5th kick wide of the post, Monifieth blasted home the last kick to win and it seemed like half the school raced over the pitch to the big huddle in celebration. To their credit, having given and taken some good-natured banter with the Monifieth crowd, the Grange players were quick to go forward, when the huddle subsided, to shake hands and congratulate Monifieth on their win. Baldragon v. St.Paul's in the DSA U13 League was called off because the astro was waterlogged.
Dundee beat Fife 2-0 in U15 National Trophy Group 2 to finish the group stages. With Fife needing to win to have a chance of qualifying, Dundee went 1 up at DISC when Kieron Dolan beat the keeper in the 4th minute. Dundee played well and it was just a pity that a similar performance had not been on show in the first game against Angus in Montrose, otherwise a quarterfinal place might have been up for grabs. Dundee finished off the game with a goal from Imran Madugu who slipped the ball under the keeper after a great through ball from Kieron Dolan. So both Harris players got their names on the scoresheet and Dundee finished in third place above Fife, with Edinburgh and Angus qualifying for the quarterfinals. See photos.
Wednesday 28th November
Dundee A and B had mixed fortunes in the opening day of the Primary Inter-Association Sevens at Toryglen. The As had a poor run of results to start with before piling on the goals while the Bs finished top of all 12 teams. After the dust settled it was East Ayrshire who lead the way with 21 points while Dundee and Perth & Kinross lie joint-second with 16 points. All to play for with two days left, one in February or March indoors and one in Edinburgh in May on grass. See photos.

Dundee games
The As struggled to find form and only came good at the end. The opener was a 1-0 defeat to Hamilton A who returned to competition after years out, followed by a 2-1 defeat to the strong East Ayrshire A team with Christopher Tennant scoring for Dundee. A glimpse of light came in the third game with Owen Lunan netting twice to beat Edinburgh A 2-1. Local neighbours Perth & Kinross then inflicted a 3-1 loss, Jordan Harris scoring for Dundee, and another defeat to Glasgow A by 2-0 put the As into 5th place.
The Bs had a strong start and just kept going, opening their account with a 3-1 victory over Edinburgh B with Michael Hunter on the scoresheet along with two goals from Evan Young. Then a 2-0 win over Perth & Kinross B was guaranteed with goals from Adam Locherty and James Breen. The top game was a 2-2 draw against a good East Ayrshire B who also went through the day unbeaten, Dundee scoring through Finn Leddie and Adam Locherty after going 2 down early on. Some great saves from keeper Alastair Graham kept East Ayrshire B at bay, along with some help from the crossbar. Both scorers Finn Leddie and Adam Locherty were on target again in the 3-1 win over Hamilton B with Evan Young joining them. With a better goal difference Dundee B just needed to beat Glasgow B in the last game to go top and a 3-0 win was secured by two from James Breen and another from Adam Locherty.
In the crossover games Dundee As faced Edinburgh B in the 5th v. 5th game and put together the highest score of the day as they finally hit top form, Christopher Tennant netting four goals, Sebastian Lochhead powering in a header from a corner, Brayden Bruce and Jordan Harris also on the scoresheet. Dundee Bs then went into a very close game against East Ayrshire A who had won 5 out of 5 but it was Dundee B who scored early on through Adam Locherty, scoring in his fifth consecutive game, and again excellent keeping from Alastair Graham behind a hard-working defence handed the East Ayrshire A team their first defeat of the afternoon.
It was a good trip back home on the bus through the miserable heavy rain and high winds on the more exposed areas of the road arriving back in Lochee for 4.30 and looking forward to Day 2 in a couple of months.

Dundee beat Fife 9-2 in the Senior National Trophy Group 2. Fife started strongly and took the lead at Craigie HS Astroturf as Dundee struggled to get going. Grady McGrath scored the equaliser for 1-1 as Dundee improved. Fife had the chance to retake the lead when keeper Fraser Burnett brought down a Fife striker as they both went for the ball just inside the box, but the opportunity was denied as Fraser Burnett saved the spot-kick. Instead of going 2-1 down Dundee took a 2-1 lead through Lyall Cameron and within two minutes Finlay Baird rounded the keeper for 3-1 and he was denied a 4th just after. Halftime score Dundee 3 Fife 1.
When the second half got underway Fife smashed a shot against the bar but the Fife intensity then dropped as Dundee turned on a show for the crowd. First a great Finlay Robertson pass set up Lyall Cameron who lobbed the keeper for 4-1, then Finlay Robertson capped a great display with a well deserved goal for 5-1, swiftly followed by a fierce shot from Grady McGrath for 6-1 and his second of the day. After a short respite Dundee hit the goal trail again through Lyall Cameron who completed his hat-trick for 7-1, then Josh Mulligan who performed well as a sub grabbed a goal for 8-1 before Fife broke to pull one back for 8-2. The final goal was hit home by Ryan Hunt who closed the scoring at 9-2. Thanks to all involved at Craigie HS and D&A College for giving the Dundee Seniors the chance to show their skills and wrap up a win which sees Dundee finish Group 2 in top place, guaranteeing a home game in the quarterfinals. Before that there is the first part of the International Trials which several of the Dundee players may look forward to on the 27th of November. See photos.

After a change of keeper for Harris it was Baldragon who scored again to lead 3-1 but a Harris free kick brought about a second goal to give them a chance of grabbing an equaliser. Baldragon managed to hold on for full points however.
Wednesday 7th November
St.John's beat Baldragon 9-1 in the DSA U14 League.
Dundee beat Lothian 3-0 in Senior National Trophy Group 2. Dundee took control of the game at St.Augustine's HS astroturf in Edinburgh right from the start. Grove's Fraser Macleod opened the scoring in the second minute following a corner on the left and just after ten minutes Josh McConville from Harris put Dundee two up with a firm strike from the right into the far corner. Dundee kept up the fast tempo and added a 3rd goal in 35 minutes when Lyall Cameron from St.John's headed a cross from the left over the keeper into the far corner. The second half was more even but Dundee's 3-goal lead and the defence's ability to deal with whatever Lothian could throw against them gave the opportunity to give all the subs a game. The team were complimented at the end by the Lothian managers who said they had been a joy to watch. Dundee now qualify for the quarterfinals along with Fife and next week's final group game at home to Fife will decide who tops the group. See photos.
Tuesday 6th November
Craigowl beat Ardler 6-1 in the Junior Sports Cup 1st Round and now play St.Pius or St.Andrew's away.
Edinburgh beat Dundee 4-1 in the U15 National Trophy Group 2. It was a second defeat for Dundee but an improved performance against a good Edinburgh team at Spartans FC's Ainslie Park. The home team attacked from the start and Dundee had to weather the storm. Dundee eventually pressed hard for the opener but Edinburgh broke and finished well to go 1-0 up. More Dundee pressure led to Cameron Blacklock setting up Kieron Dolan to fire home an equaliser from the edge of the box after 32 minutes and a minute later just missed out on taking the lead. 1-1 looked like it would be a good score at halftime for Dundee but Edinburgh broke down the right and lofted the ball over the keeper for 2-1 to the home team in the last minute of the half. Edinburgh showed their power to score twice in the second half and seal the win, though Dundee fought to the end but just lacked the clinical finish. The last group game is home to Fife on the 29th and a win might give Dundee a chance to qualify for the quarterfinal., but this may depend on other results. See photos.

Baldragon beat St.Paul's 3-1 in the Arab Trust DSA Senior League. Baldragon opened the scoring early in the first half but there were no more goals until the last quarter when Baldragon scored twice quickly followed by a St.Paul's goal. St.Paul's pressed hard to reduce the deficit further but the defences held out. It was a good competitive game which was eagerly followed by a reasonable home crowd despite the constant rain's attempts to make for a miserable afternoon. See photos.

Dundee beat Angus 8-1 in the Senior National Trophy Group 2 at Montrose Roselea. A good start for Dundee who played some excellent football in the first half to lead 4-1 at the break. Fraser Macleod opened the scoring in the 13th minute and two goals in a minute soon after put Dundee in control with a good shot from Cameron McCormack then a great piece of skill from Archie Meekison. Fraser Macleod scored his second in the 36th minute to put Dundee 4 up but a good shot from Angus pulled one back a minute later. The pace in the second half was naturally a bit slower but Matt McKinnon started to find form and netted in the 51st minute for 5-1. As all the subs got on for a taste of the action Dundee increased the lead with another goal from Matt McKinnon in the 72nd minute, then a well deserved goal for Finlay Baird in the 78th minute followed a minute later by Matt McKinnon completing his hat-trick for 8-1. Next up is away to Lothian on Wednesday 7th November (details to be confirmed) then a home match against Fife on Wednesday 14th November at Whitton Park. See photos.

Tuesday 25th September
St.John's beat Harris 4-1 in the DSA U14 League. See photos.
Angus beat Dundee 3-0 in the U15 National Trophy Group 2. The home team scored twice with the wind at their backs in the first half at Montrose Roselea, helped by defensive mistakes. Despite having the wind in their favour in the second half Dundee made little of it and another giveaway in defence left Angus clear to score a 3rd and sew up the win. Dundee keeper Fergus Robertson was the best player for the visitors. See photos.
Monifieth beat Glenwood HS 7-0 in the U16 Shield 1st Round in Glenrothes and now play home to Kinross HS.
Monifieth beat Glenwood HS 3-1 in the Senior Shield 2nd Round in Glenrothes and now play Banchory Ac. or Cults Ac. at home.
Friday 21st September
Monifieth beat Harris 4-3 in the DSA U13 League. Harris fought back from 3-1 down at Dawson Park to level at 3-3 and a draw looked on the cards but a rash challenge near the edge of the box gave Monifieth the chance to score from the spot with the last kick of the ball. See photos.
Grove beat Monifieth 4-0 in the DSA U14 League, scoring once into the wind in the first half and adding three more in the second half including a penalty. See photos.
Thursday 20th September
St.John's beat Monifieth 6-0 in the DSA Arab Trust Senior League. St.John's took the lead in the 4th minute, converting a cross from the right at the near post. The home team played some good football but Monifieth matched them until five minutes from the break when two goals for St.John's made it 3-0. St.John's scored a 4th early in the second half which followed the pattern of the first half with two goals late in the game increasing the home lead. Special mention for the Monifieth keeper who made many excellent saves in the second half. See photos.
Wednesday 19th September
The DSA U13 League games Grove v. Monifieth and Morgan v. Baldragon were both called off because of the conditions as Storm Ali blew gusts of 65-70 mph all over the place. Also off was the U13 Shield 1st Round game Glenwood HS v. St.John's which will be rearranged.
Dundee Senior Select beat D & A College 5-2 in a friendly at Gardyne Road. The strong winds made it difficult to watch but given the poor conditions it was a good game. A Grady McGrath hat-trick helped Dundee to their 5 goals while a penalty and a kick-out from the goalkeeper was carried over the Dundee keeper into the net for the College goals. See a few photos.
Tuesday 18th September
Harris beat Monifieth 5-0 in the Arab Trust U15 League. After a delayed kick-off at Elliot Road while rabbit-holes were patched up Harris played up the hill and scored three before the break. Monifieth had some chances in the 2nd half but could not outwit the home defence and Harris added two more to join Baldragon and Grove at the top of the table. See photos.
St.John's beat Morgan 6-0 in the Arab Trust U16 League. St.John's led 1-0 at halftime and with the wind at their backs in the 2nd half went on to secure full points. See photos.
Monday 17th September
The opening day of the Angus Soccer One 7s League took place at Forfar Community Campus.
Arbroath HS A lead after Day 1 with Mearns Ac. A and Arbroath Ac. close behind. Full results are at the foot of the page. See photos.
Baldragon beat Morgan 4-2 in the DSA U14 League. In the opening game of the U14 season Baldragon led 3-0 at halftime with two good strikes from outside of the area either side of a 10-yard shot. Morgan looked smart in their new Atletico Madrid-style strips and fought back in the second half to trail 3-2. There was plenty of time left and the next goal would be key. Late in the game a Morgan foul 20 yards out was punished by Baldragon who scored direct from the free kick to take full points. See photos.
Thursday 13th September
Grove beat Monifieth 3-0 in the Arab Trust U16 League.
Wednesday 12th September
SS Peter & Paul and St.Andrew's kicked off the Primary season with a 1-1 draw in Arab Trust DSA Section C. At halftime it was 0-0 and good chances were few and far between but the tempo picked up in the second half. SS Peter & Paul opened the scoring 10 minutes after the break when a cross from the right was touched in from a couple of yards out, beating the keeper at the near post. There were chances for both sides and St.Andrew's piled on the pressure late in the game, with the ball hitting the top of the bar with a minute left in the search for an equaliser.
SS Peter & Paul then had a chance to finish it off but shot wide and in the last minute St.Andrew's raced up the right and fired in a cross which as luck would have it was diverted past the SSPP keeper for an own goal by the best player on the park. An exciting end to the game and a draw was probably the right result. See photos.
Tuesday 11th September
Grove beat Monifieth 3-0 in the Arab Trust U15 League. A very strong wind threatened to ruin the game on a sunny afternoon but both sides served up a good match in the local derby. Grove scored twice into the wind in the first quarter while Monifieth efforts to fight back were usually hit a bit too hard and the wind carried the ball into the trees. The second half was fairly even with both keepers in good form. The Monifieth keeper could do nothing to prevent a Nathan Chew shot from 30 yards fly into the top corner for 3-0. See photos.
Friday 7th September
Baldragon beat Monifieth 7-3 in the Arab Trust U15 League. In the opening game of the season Baldragon did the hard work in the first half, opening up a 4-goal lead. Monifieth pulled one back with a shot which went in off the frame of the goal but Baldragon immediately hit back to lead 5-1 at the break. The second half was an even affair with Monifieth pulling one back on two occasions but each time Baldragon countered to keep the 4-goal lead and end up 7-3 winners. See photos.
Friday 31st August
In this year's National Trophy games Dundee Seniors are away in Group 2 to Angus and Lothian, then home to Fife. The team will be picked after the trial on Tuesday 4th September. Dundee U15s are away in Group 2 to Angus and Edinburgh, then home to Fife, with the team being picked after the trial on Thursday 13th September.
In the Primary Inter-Association Sevens National Champions Dundee will meet in competition with East Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Hamilton later in the year, with the first tournament probably in late November. Hamilton return to competition after some years out and we hope that Perth & Kinross will also be able to enter as usual. Trials will be organised in due course.
Tuesday 26th June
St.John's beat Grove 4-0 in the Arab Trust U15 Champions League to win the league. St.John's scored in 11 and 21 minutes to take a 2-goal lead and were 3 up at halftime. A second-half penalty for a push in the back gave St.John's the chance to wrap up the scoring and bring the season to a close. See photos.
